I honestly think the line up won't be totally firmed up until after the Olympics. I would imagine they have options, but it being fairly fluid until they know which athletes are definitely available.

Quite disappointed. With the number of pros leaving last year I was really hoping that they would not replace them and cut back on the number of couples, as with 15 couples it was just too long!! By the end they are all so exhausted the final is a huge let down. Just my opinion, was hoping for a shorter show, and really hope they drop the judges favourite this year.
Also not upset Gleb is gone, would have been perfect if Pasha had left too but I can survive him as long as I dont look at him. Have managed so far!

^Wow, I've never seen someone who dislikes Pasha! He's got to be one of the most popular pros right?
I guess I think if Katya is doing it, Neil will be announced soon. It just doesn't make sense that one would do it and not the other? Why walk away from the competitive career for potentially only one series of strictly for only one of them? Who knows though - it's all just guesses and conjecture on my part and it's silly to speculate about other peoples lives when you don't know them. I thought the remaining pros were two more males but could easily be wrong. Maybe one female one male?
I agree that people took against her unfairly because Scott was not a natural dancer, but I think if she was partnered with someone like Harry Judd or Jay people would still have disliked her because a lot of people seem to unfairly have it out for her due to their dislike of her brother (which again is completely unwarranted imo.)

I like Kevin and really looked forward to Jo appearing. I have to say the first year she did put me of a bit.A 30 year old woman putting on a little girls voice is plain odd. Last year on choreography corner she was an intelligent adult I looked forward to seeing
Also some of her behaviour with Scott was unnecessary. All that tying his hands together and standing on him. He clearly could not dance so what Karen and Janette do particularly well is to ensure the contestant has a good time and that comes through in the performance. Scott seemed pretty miserable, I know he said he should have embraced the experience like Jeremy but Jo is part of that. She seemed to be trying to force a level of technicality on him that was unrealistic and detracted from his enjoyment
Pretty sure she will have learnt and will be great this year. I didn't like Karen in her first year but I love the relationships she develops and her enthusiasm for the show and dancing

I don't find it strange that they may have asked just one and not the other, especially if Neil does not actually fit the bill for what they are looking for, this series. They would still have Neil around to do the choreo as usual. He would still be able to teach some of the couples that they normally would teach anyhow.They would not necessarily walk away from their competitive career, just put a short hold on it, perhaps for the remainder of this year. They could still compete in the UK open in January.Strictly can open many doors and perhaps they are curious to see what could come their way with the tremendous exposure it brings.As you say, all speculation, but I would love them to bring in another good 10 dancer.

Totally agree with this, I was really looking forward to Joanne joining Strictly but in her first year I felt she over acted and put on silly voices. I remember commenting on here that I felt she should tone it down a bit and just be herself. Seems like she finally started to do that last year.

I think the Powers that Be put a lot of pressure on her - there was the whole sibling rivalry with Kevin and her World Champion status being highlighted. Then they give her Scott and Kevin Frankie. Not terribly well thought out, really.
At least her stint on ITT last year allowed her to show that she seems to be an excellent teacher.

I don't think she was putting on silly voices, I remember Kevin commenting in an interview at the time that Joanne was having voice coaching because when speaking English she had this young girls Grimsby accent. They thought it was because she had moved to Italy in her teens and Italian had been her 'first language' for all the years she was over there.
I do agree Joanne's learnt how to present herself on TV, much as I personally love her outgoing and sometimes quirky personality. You could see on ITT that teaching comes naturally to her.
She was in an impossible situation with Scott. He couldn't dance but kept being voted through by his radio listeners. I loved the Addams Family Foxtrot Joanne choreographed for him the week they left and her Christmas American Smooth with Harry was sublime.

Most of the renewed male pro's have done quite well - Brendan was the first to leave last year and that was week 6? Halloween at any rate, so not sure it's an issue, really.

BIB Of course not but Jo herself said she wanted to improve her pronunciation. This is one joint interview with Kevin and Joanne in the Express I was remembering.

Most national TV presenters tone down their accents. I think it's been beneficial for Jo to do so when she's working as a pro on Strictly, presenting and diversifying in to acting.

Emma Slater has been mentioned, and in previous years too. But as she's newly engaged, she might not want to leave LA for that length of time.
Another point against Emma, she ditched SCD fairly late on (after she'd been officially announced) to go over to DWTS and I can't imagine producers being very pleased with her for that.
