The apparent gaudy and shameless show of wealth by Sterling was actually a video of him being happy in the house he bought for his mum. The Sun followed this by using a photo of Sterling to illustrate an article about a drug dealer who used to play football and had absolutely no link whatsoever to Sterling outside 'play football'

It's disgusting.

Well the gutter press will do what they do. It's hard to muster any sympathy for the England players at the moment though, even when they're treated unfairly.

I don't think they're asking for it after their performance, but attacking them as people for desperate and even made up reasons helps nobody. Criticising them for football is fine, smear campaigns and articles about 'WAGs' and all that stuff is the very worst of modem football.

Definitely their on-field performances. No one begrudges German or Spanish or Italian millionaires when they win things!! When they play like a mickey mouse outfit and like they aren't even trying again and again and again and people waste money and time flying around the world to support them, of course they are pissed off. But yes, as long as morons continue supporting these same players at their clubs, why should anything change?
So, we are morons if we continue to support our clubs, and these players are in the team?

It wasn't at the airport or something as small as rotten fruit and veg but there's also the tragic tale of Andres Escobar following Colombia's 1994 World Cup exit. Gunned down in the streets dsys after for scoring an own goal

Losing to Iceland was nowhere near as bad as losing to the USA in the 1950 World Cup. Lineker obviously doesn't know his history.

So Iceland are beatable after all

England and Russia were the two worst teams in this tournament. No wonder they drew their game

Ukraine had one great half against Germany and they generally played OK-ish I thought, they just couldn't score a goal

Sweden I agree were terrible as well

Don't score too many against one team though, that's not nice.
