Hodgson the Commentator
It won't be long before the BBC have Hodgson giving us pearls of wisdom alongside Jonathan Pearce, just as they did with Turnip Taylor.

Perfectly logical and sensible career progression for him.

That'd be terrible, a multi-linguist with vast experience of football across the world.

He has done commentary before, several years ago on UEFA Cup games on C5, and appeared as a pundit on Sky's CL coverage.
As has been suggested, his voice really didn't suit commentary. |

As a pundit he might just be good enough (when the standard is Robbie Savage then most other people would be better options), but as a commentator or analyser, no thanks.

What's the difference between a pundit and an "analyser?"

Been on before I think.
Might not be any worse than some of the pundits around who have never even been bothered to try management but seem to think they know it all. Would be a bit awkward I guess though. I remember Graham Taylor was quite good though as he said what he thought rather than trying to play it safe like so many do now (which is why people like Gary Neville) |

I think Jimmy armfield is a wonderful analyser. The FA could do a lot worse than asking Jim for advice on the next manager.

You should never ask the workers who they want managing them. Its ridiculous to even contemplate it.
As for roy being a well paid pundit, again football rewards abject failure. Roy has proven that what he once knew about managing a football team has long since passed. The world has moved on from this dinosaur. After the interview yesterday, he still insists england were unlucky and that they played really well in the previous three games! Why would anyone listen to his punditry and analysis? He also came across as a bit of a git, his opening comment will haunt his "career" forever. he should retire from all football, and spend the 14million taken from grass roots football he has received, |
