Elvis Presley's first guitarist Winfield "Scotty" Moore has passed away at the age of 84.

The pioneering rock guitarist - whose sharp style helped Elvis shape his revolutionary sound and inspired a generation of musicians including Keith Richards, Jimmy Page and Bruce Springsteen - died on Tuesday at his home in Nashville.

Without him the music world would look very different. RIP

Love his work on the Sun sessions and other early Elvis tracks.

Like many of the rock and Motown musicians of his era, he was a former jazz guitarist.
