'HD' Glastonbury streaming on iPlayer
I very rarely use iPlayer, on the odd occasion I do need it, I download to my Sky box for offline viewing.
On Sunday one of the Glastonbury performances (Hurts) was on the streaming player but not available to download to the Sky box. The picture quality was AWFUL - during crowd scenes especially, there was lots of blocking, blurring etc. It was nowhere near even SD standard let alone HD a lot of the time, how is this even considered acceptable? I have 70Mb broadband and Netflix/Amazon have no trouble streaming at a constant HD picture quality/bitrate (these two and iPlayer all from the same kit - a Samsung smart Blu ray player so equipment isn't a factor) Is this the best the BBC can come up with for streaming? Recorded iPlayer shows are fine (although aren't they 720p not 1080i) ? My eyes were aching after watching the performance. This isn't intended as a dig at the BBC, more to say how shocked I was that this is considered acceptable having never used the service this way - I'm glad I don't have to stream iPlayer regularly |

What device/platform are you using and what version of iPlayer? Just tried streaming that performance via the iPlayer Android app and also the iPlayer addon for Kodi and both are fine, the latter reporting 1280 x 720 resolution.

I was watching some Glastonbury sets last night via iPlayer and Chromecast. No problems at all with picture quality, and my Internet connection is considerably slower than the OP's.
