Polaroid iPhone Lightning Sync and Charge cable
Jayma

Bought one of these today and used it for the first time. My phone hasn't charged properly - in fact, it's been charging backwards and some functions have stopped (Siri voice, keypad sounds and brightness issues). My phone is now red hot and I've just switched it off altogether and unplugged it. I also tried plugging it into one of my usual chargers, but there's no improvement.

Any suggestions (other than the obvious take it back). I'm more concerned about any damage that's been caused to my phone. First time I've used anything other than an Apple charging cable, and really wishing I hadn't now.

Sorry, not sure whether I should have posted this here, or in the Advice forum.

If I recall correctly, Polaroid went bankrupt and is now owned by a holding firm and is just a brand name that is sold to whichever company wants to pay for the privilege, odds are you may as well have just bought a cable from Poundland.

Is the cable marked as MFi?

Thanks for the reply. No it doesn't- I've checked the cable and the package. My phone seems ok today. Left it uncharged overnight then used my usual charger. I just won't use the Polaroid one again.

No, they are just a brand holder these days and licence their name out to other companies.

Polaroid the company went bankrupt about a decade ago and the company that came out of the bankruptcy went bankrupt again a few years later.

It's just a name sold for use by others these days.
