Nicely done exit for Jason imo, given all the circumsrances leading up to it!!

Loved the scenes with Todd, Sarah, Eileen & Sean, all important figures in his life!!

So much better written & handled than the abysmal Carla exit a few weeks ago!!

I'm going to miss Jase, a character who's grown up on the Street, always believable, mainly likeable & who reminds me of quite a number of mates I've known over the years, one of the few characters I can always identify with & actually care about what happens to him!!

Best of luck to Ryan, whatever his plans are!! The door has been left open and if his travels eventually lead him back to Weatherfield, I for one will welcome the character back with open arms!!

So he's gone then?

Such a shame and a big loss to the show.

One of the few believable and dependable characters that Corrie had left.

Yes it was a good send off. In fact, there were more people at his send off, than there were at Tony's funeral!

The only bugbear for me, is how Jason suddenly left 'just like that' to bog off to Thailand for God knows how many months!

Where is he going to stay? What will he do? Where is all the money coming from? What's more, why would he just leave his business behind and trust someone he barely knows to run it? A bit far fetched IMO. It put me under the impression that it was a bit rushed to be honest.

I felt it seemed that his exit scenes had more of a focus on Pat than they did on Jason which I found to be disappointing

They should have had Jason go out and join Emily in Peru

If Jason had told Sarah that the Police were satisfied that Tony killed Callum, I feel sure that she would have told him the truth.

Such a poor exit. One incident and he does a runner, that's not Jason at all.

His exit smelt of storyliners having no belief in him finding any other work and he will be back within 18 months..

The only thing I didn't like about his exit was the fact that he didn't share a final scene with Eva.

It is very brave of Ryan to give up a secure job, one he has held for many years, and I wish him well for the future. His departure was average, comparing it to others on the show.

Yes but remember Sarah is doollally at the moment, plus due to that she will be drugged up to the eyeballs so won't be able to tell her arse from her elbow never mind tell anyone the truth.

As davejc64 said she is heavily medicated at the moment so the thought of telling Jason the truth would not have entered her head. It took all her brain power to remember that there were elephants where Jason was going.

I was slightly suspicious of Carla's exit and wondered if there was more to it than the 'wanting to spend more time with my daughter' line, which smacked a bit of the politician who resigns because he wants to spend more time with his family.

Was Ali King complaining? wanting more money that they weren't prepared to give her? Perhaps Ryan departure was under less of a cloud and therefore got everyone on board to give him a more positive (and probably short term) send off?

He told Eileen that he's going to stay with Violet for a little bit while he figures it all out but he just needs to get away from the street asap.

It's odd how he managed as long as he did. All he did was take his top off and shag about.

I'm surprised Sean didn't go with him for a few days has he forgotten he has a son with Violet?

But yes, a nice exit and believable, though he did say he wanted to get away for a few months so technically he is on a long holiday. He is supposed to be coming back (although we obviously know he isn't) but Eileen etc were acting like he was emigrating for good.

I wouldn't say Jason is my top favourite character, but it does feel strange he is gone. He has been a part of the street for fifteen-and-a-half years. Even if his constant bedding of women got grating, I did appreciate him and his family's involvement with the Platt family, which has been going for over ten years now.

Did prefer it to Carla. And at least Jason bid farewell to characters he has been involved in a long time and had believable relationships with and history, such as his mother, brother and (whether or not you like it) Sean. Unlike Carla, in which I felt nothing when she bid farewell to the New Connor clan who weren't in the show for a year.

Jason & Violet dated for a while!!
Think it might have been between weddings to Sarah (the 'nearly one' when he did a runner & the actual one when they married) though Jason's love life takes some keeping up with!!
Either way i think he cheated on Violet by getting back with Sarah!!

I was surprised last night when he said about staying with Violet as I didn't think they were on particularly friendly terms when she left with Jamie!!

It was before both weddings in 2005, Jason was having an affair with Sarah while dating Violet at the same time and eventually Jason and Sarah got together as a couple after Jason and Violet broke up and Violet then started dating Jamie Baldwin.

This was the reveal on the 23rd of November 2005 when both Gail and Violet found out:

The nearly wedding was in 2006 and the real wedding was in 2007.

Thanks for jogging my memory PDS!!

I really should have known the amount of time I spend watching 00s Corrie on YouTube but as I say Jase & his love life did take some keeping up with!!

Edit: Just thought Jase & Sarah first got together at I think it was Katy Harris' party in Sept 04, which caused a massive family fall out & led in part to Todd leaving!!
Was Jason seeing Violet then or did he cheat on Sarah with Violet first? Again I should really know, although YouTube coverage of 2004 is sadly limited!!

Brave ?

or more likely to feel free to tell the truth

He couldn't have been dating Violet in September 2004 as her first appearance wasn't until a month later on the 8th of October 2004.
