I hate threads like this. I'm 27 and i don't like most of the younger HM's. Evelyn's is alright, Hughie is hit and miss and Laura is better now that Marco is gone, but the rest i don't like at all.

Nah man .. That's what you call the wrong side of middleaged!! Serious! Nowt good to expect in being late 30s. Halfway down the slippery slope already, innit..

I sometimes regret having the year of birth in me username. Specialy if it leads others to believe the only reason I like Alex, Late-tissue and Sam is because of it.

When it comes to the younger housemates, such as Alex, Jackson, Lateysha and Sam, they can do no right and are constantly criticised by forum posters for nothing whatsoever. Alex and Jackson in particular are real gentlemen and they are both nice people and good housemates.

I think it shows what the average age is of many of the nasty folk posting on here with not a nice word to say about anything because all the negativity is aimed at the younger housemates who have done little to deserve it and the older housemates who have been demonic are defended to the bitter end.”

Is this some kind of joke or what? You cannot be serious...

It's also a bit of an insult to the younger FMs I would say.”

Totally agree, well posted

Question to the OP do you know Jackson in real life ? you seem to be fighting his corner on a few threads, not that there's anything wrong with that. He wasn't much of a gentleman the other night under the duvet with George, and his bragging of the 100s of women he's slept with.

In fact, over on TiBB, which skews much, much younger and has an average age or probably 20, have Jayne as a huge favourite over there and is pretty much equal to Hughie. And Alex on there is polling less in the polls compared to every single poll across the internet with barely 2% on there, whereas other places he is between 7% and 10%.”

Is there any forum where Hughie isn't a favourite? Or Jayne? If so, I'd like to visit it.

I don't dislike them, btw -- it's just ... why on earth are they favourites?

This series is going to set a record for HMs becoming popular for no good reason.

How do you know it's far from the truth?

And what about it is an insult to the younger FMs? (The OP looked like it was criticising older FMs, rather than younger ones.)

Do you think it isn't even possible that older FMs tend to like older HMs, and younger FMs tend to like younger HMs? (If someone had said that, I don't think there'd be many people questioning it.)

I notice that in most cases, you say "some" FMs and "others", but when it's "want to get rid of the quieter housemates", you say "a few". I think it's pretty clearly more than a few.

But the general point is that numbers in the various categories don't have to be anywhere near equal. You describe the FMs as if everything was spread around and equally mixed, but it's not clear that's so. That "there are people of varying ages in each and every group" doesn't mean there's an even spread of ages in every group. There can be statistical patterns, correlations. And one of them might be that older FMs tend to like older HMs, and younger FMs tend to like younger HMs

OP you are way off base here. Its nothing to do with age more to do with gender.

Women support guys hate the especially the young fit girls who get the guys
Men support fit nice girls and one of the lads type of guy
Gay guys support gay HM's and their friends in the house

These are the general facts. Note this of course does not apply to ALL housemates but most.

Honestly I wouldn't take Same for a day under 45 and I know people in their 40's who look younger than him.

it doesn't matter what peoples ages are its how they act or are edited in the show

Geez definitely clutching at straws to make a thread

I think we were both trying to be sarcastic. The age 54 could apply to all our respective favourite housemates

I wasn't going to reply to this (that sounds rude! I mean because I think it takes my post way too seriously, not because it's not worth responding to!) but I'll give it a shot

Originally Posted by Veri:

I don't, it's my opinion - I didn't think that needed to be pointed out as everything that I (and most of us) type here is opinion. I apologise if I gave the impression that I was posting my opinion as fact. The clue should have been in "the way I see it"

Quote:
“And what about it is an insult to the younger FMs? (The OP looked like it was criticising older FMs, rather than younger ones.)”

Again, just my opinion - but it seemed to imply that younger people only go for younger housemates as older people only (according to the OP) go for older ones. Somebody has to be supporting the younger ones - if it's not the older FMs it must be the younger ones!

Quote:
“Do you think it isn't even possible that older FMs tend to like older HMs, and younger FMs tend to like younger HMs? (If someone had said that, I don't think there'd be many people questioning it.)”

It's possible - anything is possible. It's even probable, perhaps it's absolute. My post wasn't a statistical analysis it was an opinion, a comment even, or a rebuttal of the OP's post; an alternative view-point, a 'perhaps' - as, of course, is yours

I think fewer would have questioned it too if the OP hadn't suggested that the older FMs (or SOME of the older FMs) were 'nasty'.

Quote:
“I notice that in most cases, you say "some" FMs and "others", but when it's "want to get rid of the quieter housemates", you say "a few". I think it's pretty clearly more than a few.”

I used different words because I realised I was using the word "some" a lot and it was getting repetitive. I didn't think too much about which alternative I would use, it could have been another word, but I chose "few". I did have a bit of fun Googling synonyms for 'plethora' though

bib - no, you read it that way. I never said the groups were equally or evenly spread. It may well be that older FMs tend to like older HMs and younger FMs tend to like younger HMs, I just don't think it's that simple.

The OP's implication (to be kind to the OP) that the 'nasty folk' posting here are older FMs is simplistic at best and unnecessarily rude (in my opinion). "I think it shows what the average age is of many of the nasty folk posting on here with not a nice word to say about anything because all the negativity is aimed at the younger housemates who have done little to deserve it and the older housemates who have been demonic are defended to the bitter end"

I look forward, with great interest, to your equally challenging, analytical opinion and comments regarding the Original Post and it's content.

I hope that clarifies my position and mind-set at the time I made the post.

Jayne isn't a favourite here, really is she? Well up until a few days she wasn't, maybe she is now because of her 10 nominations.

On Tellymix she is 7th fave behind the likes of Alex.

TiBB have had her 2nd fave for the last 2 weeks, the only place to do so.

I don't understand the Hughie love myself, I find him rather unlovable

I think there's such a lack of likeable housemates that any hint of popularity can seem to be for 'no good reason'! I think it's just that they (whoever they may be) are less unpopular!

I certainly don't have a favourite, although that makes it more interesting to watch in a way.

Funny I was just thinking this myself and specifically in terms on how I'm viewing BB and deciding on who I like and don't and how tenuous and superficial it is. I mean, I can turn on a sixpence on a HM based on something they've said or done in one episode.

Not entirely sure why. I know we have always been at the mercy of the edits but it does seem like we get a less of true picture of the HMs now with no live feed and their focus on edits on specific story lines so in one episode a HM could show kindness I'll think ooh, like them, then in the next another side could be revealed and I'll do a 180.

And it is slim pickings in there. I like 'nice' HMs so I watch with my nice radar on which has meant I've ended up 'liking' HMS for the most flimsy, tenuous reason based on nothing very concrete, just a glimpse of something in an episode. Basically, I'm clutching at straws.

But I never bullheadedly stick with a HM out of loyalty though so I'm changing my mind on hms all the time this series.

But I'm grand with that. I used to like having a 'nice' (imo) HM to back throughout but I'm happy to watch it as frothy nonsense, take it with a pinch of salt. Chewing gum for the eyes. Not something I get into - and get behind someone - the way I used to.

Oh, and Jayne a favourite. Not unhappy about it but I never saw that coming.

When was the turnaround?
