It's hard to argue against Ronaldo having little interest in his team mates. I can't remember less of a leader in terms of personality, doesn't stand with the team during the penalties. Not captaincy material.

![]() He's an obscenely arrogant man! I usually love flair players, but I find it impossible to warm to him, to the point where I want him to fail and the only enjoyment I can get from seeing him now is seeing him play like he did last night, which was a performance that was nothing less than embarrassing. |

In Ronaldo's defence... he actually appears to be a much nicer person in his private life than his (quite funny) on-field personna would suggest. Unlike Messi who spends a large chunk of his time in court on tax evasion charges, Ronaldo gives millions away to charity.
But he played awful last night as he usually does for Portugal The game was painful to watch and if this style of football wins the cup, it will be a football revolution - they will call it the "Portuguese style" because no one has ever won a tournament playing this bad

I agree that his off pitch demeanour puts him in a more favourable light

The Harrods version of Craig Bellamy in that respect.

Get Ronaldo to take it and we'd be alright.

its all show, there is no security.
There were even machine gun-armed security forces after the game preventing a crowd of thousands of people from leaving at the same time (to avoid a stampede). There were also several tiny incidents in the metro (someone started smoking cannabis, someone begging etc) and armed police turned up immediately in large numbers to "deal". I must say, I was impressed (and Paris is still the most beautiful city on earth). |

They said during the game yesterday that he was lining up his 40-somethingth free kick at a European Championships, yet to score one. What the hell? Don't get any ideas, Kane.

At club level he runs at defenders, at this level he looks to pass it. I have not seen him make one single attempt to run at a defence in this tournament. He is every bit as bad as the mega flops we've had. |

The worst part is that it's going back 12 years overall, you think he'd have knocked one in at some point. Eric Dier did and he doesn't even get to take any!

So did Jimmy Saville ! Whats your point ? Ronaldo makes sure EVERYONE knows that he gives money to charity. Lots of famous people give huge amounts of money, but they choose not to brag about it.
Anyway, who said Ronaldo wasn't captaincy material?... https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.101...client=safari#

Anyway, with all my critique of Ronaldo, I really do want him to finally come good in a Portugal shirt and win this bloody title (as he should have done with that amazing Portugal team of 2004!) but unfortunately, I really can't see it happening. I'm not even sure Portugal can beat Wales. They're just so bad |

Love this video.I think the other video I posted above explains why he didn't stand with the team, but was crouching behind them during the penalty shootout - he was too nervous! Which is kinda cute |
