Why not the more episodes the better.

Yes, if you prefer quantity over quality.

IMO Five is too many - all soaps would be better at with two/three episodes a week

CS needs to have an hour block nightly Mon - Fri. Increase the ads, so when you strip them out, it's remains around 35 minutes nightly.

I would prefer a third option of 'Yes but only if they could keep the writing to a high standard!!'

I love Corrie & would happily watch it every night if the quality was there, but it does put a lot of onus on the writing team, who at the moment have not been firing on enough cylinders to provide even 5 quality episodes per week!!
However there is a big enough cast, some of whom have suffered from being underutilised in recent years so there is really no reason why 3 hours (minus ad breaks) of quality entertainment per week shouldn't be possible with a cast of 70 odd characters, many with a rich history to draw on for storylines!!

All in all I'm going to vote Yes but freshen up the writing team & keep working on character continuity which, to be fair has improved vastly since the 'Kevin's baby' debacle last year!!

More episodes isn't better these days. Even outside of soaps

For me, a show like Game Of Thrones succeeds and nails everything in just 10 episodes than what shows can do with 22 episodes.

We're luck the soaps haven't been upgraded to one hour episodes like the US soaps have. Shows like Y&R, GH and Days air 5 one hour episodes a week. So you are essentially getting 10 episodes a week in the states.

really think that those who want corrie on six times a week are either thick or that`s the only show they can get in prison

Only if you are happy with six days a week of crap, the producers should remember that less is more.

They should make it so soaps are on 24/7 alternating with Emmerdale every other hour and get rid of all the other crap.

Why???????

Are you dumb enough to think that if there was less soap episodes a week the slots would be filled with high quality TV instead!!

ITV would just bring on more reality CRAP to replace it!!

They probably would, but you don't have to watch the reality crap and at least the quality of the soaps wouldn't reduce even more with an unneeded uneccesary extra episode.

Exactly. It's not as if they would do anything innovative and, god forbid, expensive, with the extra time. We'd just get even cheaper productions, almost all of which would involve yet more cute cats, dogs, gerbils etc who are prepared to work for bugger all and whose owners are prepared to work for the thrill of getting their mugs on the tellybox.

People will whinge about an extra episode, but no doubt they will still watch it.

Of course I welcome it, I don't see any reason why I wouldn't want to see more! I don't buy the quality argument either..Emmerdale runs 6 episodes a week and its absolutely fabulous. And bad as some of you think Corrie is, its still more enjoyable than most of the junk on TV so I would never say no to more of it.

I voted no, but I didn't expect "no" to be winning. I regret my choice now. I'm off to google what Coronation Street is

I'll accept the 6th episode but only on the condition of freedom of movement.

Since it won't start until later next year, I am holding out in the hope the writing and general story lines get better before they change. But in reality, I would prefer quality over quantity and if it will be more of Aiden's socks, they can keep it at 5

Three or four episodes a week are more than enough.
