Alex is part of the bedroom bitches and with Hughie going off on him/them (Sam included) then BB couldn't hide Alex's membership in the bedroom bitch club. Just like they couldn't totally hide Alex's support of Jackson working himself into a temper tantrum about the reasons Georgina was nominated.

I don't know where Jason stands on the Alex worship but Hurricane Hughie was building with frustration so Jason was doing the right thing, imo, and getting him out of there.
