Not surprised the bbc has cancelled it. Its a good programme but they treated it poorly shunting it around the schedules never showing a series in its entirety.

Look forward to seeing it on ch5

Love the gawdawful naff voice-overs.

Finally, these cheap documentaries following police forces are beneath the BBC.

Indeed. I'm not sure why anyone would consider its cancellation a bad thing. It was utter balls.

It's got to the point that you begin to wonder if every police car has a film crew in the back.

Traffic/Motorway Cops was a cut-above (especially with Theakston doing the voiceovers). It doesn't deserve to be lumped in with other channels' deriviative versions.

So is the bubble bursting for the cheapest crappiest, worst police propaganda type shows?

These shows annoy me intensely, as they show exactly the same thing every week. Across all the versions. See about three of any one of them and you've got the gist of every single one.

I call it propaganda because that is what it is. See the local plod take down drunk/drug/dangerous drivers. Forget the dubious tactics used against the innocent driver. Forget the lack of response to stolen vehicles, house break ins. No mention of the countless crimes that remain unsolved. You get to see what a great job your local constabulary do. If only I could believe it.

Why should Police waste time catching actual criminals when they can spend time stopping people doing 63 in a 60?

They do show up the failings of the police and judicial system. You will see them stop a car with a couple of Romanians, boot full of blank credit cards, machinery for copying them. gadgets for fitting to the ATMs to rip off our PIM details. Then be told that no further action was taken.

It was best in the early Theakston era, didn't take itself so seriously

I always remember the episode where one of the South Yorkshire cops was chasing someone and ripped his trousers on a fence, no idea why I have such a memory

They're traffic cops of the roads policing units, they wouldn't respond or investigate house break ins.

As for stolen vehicles, they often feature in almost every episode...

I liked watching traffic cops with Jamie narrating it. I remember one with some woman being arrested for assault. She said "I only gave him a slap" Jamie then said after that the police "took the slapper" into custody 😆 So funny

I did qualify my statement by saying that type of show. I.e, where a camera crew get to follow cops around.

I take your point though, it's just a shame we only ever get to see how good these plod are. I realise that if the camera crew did catch anything untoward by the officers that would be confiscated and never see the light of day.

Oh dear.

Anyway on subject - as long as this doesn't affect the quality of the show or Police Interceptors I'm find with this. Hope Jamie comes too

It was an officer called Tim Scothern.

See? We're both a bit sad!

Disappointed that Rojek and The Panther never made it to series.

Will be merged with Police Interceptors to become Traffic Interceptors or even Interceptor Cops

I don't see how Theakston narrating makes the show a cut above, he's reading a script.

It rather depends on which particular BMW there are referring to.

Listen to the ones Steven Macintosh did and you'll see why.

These cops are clearly never pulled-up over the comments they make and their lack of being able to be polite to the public. What ever happened to 'Good morning/afternoon/evening Sir', rather than their curt 'Ello mate, step out the car'. Anyone else feel on the side of the offenders on these shows.

I thought that several of the programmes had shown how they were being used non-traffic work.

Were these programs beneath the license fee payers though?
Any good reason why they shouldn't get stuff they like, even if you think it's beneath the BBC?

Not that I watch these things or this program in particular, only in passing and they're usually years old repeats.
I'm pretty sure it was PC Scothern who spun a Volvo at 100 plus MPH when a tyre blew and it pirouetted up the motorway managing not to hit anyone or anything, it was very wet IIRC.

Is the Sheriff John Bernell(sp) one still going btw, the dramatic language in that always gave me the pip.
