The deep issue is Sam is jealous of Hughie

I think the real problem is he was jealous of Hughie and possibly Ryan being so chummy with his queen Latisha.

Maybe, in tonight's episode he called them bum chums or something like that. Which might have revealed where his true feelings were coming from.

Yeah that bum chum comments pretty much confirmed my existing theory of Sam being a self hating gay. As soon as he said camp guys drive him insane in his VT I was put off him.

Oh yes that's interesting. Didn't Sam say earlier in the series something about Hughie maybe fancying him? Clearly nothing came of that and in fact Hughie and Ryan are close more or less leaving Sam alone whereas Ryan could have been his big story line.

Then like the OP says Ryan and Hughie are really close with Lateysha now

In fact that might the real reason why he was crying. Not because he had a taste of the 'Hughie Experience', but because Ryan and Hughie have become closer to Lateysha, muscled into his domain, and Lateysha has favoured them over him.
