There have been rumours and conspiracy theories for years about BB being fixed and/or scripted.
If people really think the whole thing is a sham, why are they still watching.

I've watched BB since the very first series on Channel 4. I don't watch it because I think it's brilliant or anything like that. In fact if anything the opposite. I watch it to see just how low they will sink with the show.

But do you think it's scripted and all the twists are phony?

Yes I do - the scripts are more obvious than they ever were, the housemates are always cast from previous reality tv shows. You wouldn't put housemates of that calibre in there without scripting it!

If it was scripted we'd have no boring housemates I think. Things are obviously set up and planned like Jason/Charlie and Chelsea/Jayne etc being in the house but I bet the producers were hoping for more drama from it.

This is the first season of Big Brother I've watched in a while and actually enjoying it, having a break from this show every once in a while helps to freshen things up a bit.

I know the twists are planned, like the exes appearing and the way noms were played to HMs over the phone.
If I thought HMs knew about that beforehand, and all they are doing is acting to a script, I'd stop watching. What would be the point? It would just be a bad soap with a lot of screaming and swearing, and cringy sex.

I don't think it's scripted insofar as giving them dialogue to recite, but I do believe that producers call them into the diary room each day to discuss their storylines and make suggestions like they do on Real Housewives and Dance Moms (you can tell I enjoy quality TV).

Shit, this is really off putting. If their reactions aren't even real the whole thing is a joke. Sad, because I'm kinda addicted, and it would make for a boring summer if the show is fake. Especially as the weather is total pants and it looks like summer ain't coming anytime soon.

Everything is scripted, Etty Dee.

The spacetime of this universe, (and all other universes), exists as holographic data where EVERYTHING that ever was and ever will be is already burned deep into its structure.

And talking of scripts. Perhaps Sonnet 59 is Shakespeare's version of the holographic universe.

“If there be nothing new, but that which is
Hath been before, how are our brains beguil'd,
Which, labouring for invention, bear amiss
The second burthen of a former child!
O, that record could with a backward look,
Even of five hundred courses of the sun,
Show me your image in some antique book,
Since mind at first in character was done!
That I might see what the old world could say
To this composed wonder of your frame;
Whether we are mended, or whe'r better they,
Or whether revolution be the same.
O! sure I am, the wits of former days
To subjects worse have given admiring praise.”

These days, we simply say, “There is nothing new under the sun” and, in that regard, of course Big Brother is scripted because you humans like things to be structured.

You like things to have a beginning, a middle and an end …

You like stories.

And even if there is no story, the human brain will construct one.

Everything is scripted, Etty Dee.

Even the rain ...

An ex housemate would have dropped them in it if this was happening.

Far easier to pick volatile housemates, give them tasks designed to stir trouble then ply them with alcohol.

It's bizarre how anyone can think this is scripted, as in HMs are coached on storylines/told what to say/following a script..

No it's not scripted ,half the buggers can't read and the other half couldn't act if their lives depended on it

I think it is along these lines but the most interesting moment are the genuine ones (like Kim Richard's relapse on RHWoBH).

Well, that's a post I didn't expect to read on a BB forum!

Space and time are just ways of looking at things. It suits some to impose their version on others of course to corrall them and separate them from their own perceptions and reality.

'Shakespeare' was a master magician at that.

Now we have TV and arguments about secret text messages and arguments about kicking dogs.

Of course we love stories! There is only one The trick is not to be fooled into seeing it the wrong way

I think scripted is the wrong word.
Eastenders is scripted.

BB is "manipulated".

Now while I accept that to some extent that is required, to create action in the house, the producers have crossed the line.

The fact that they all have some form of agent etc and the whole 'others' EX's can in no way be a natural outcome of the "auditions" process.

All highlights are obviously edited in a way to suit whichever HM BB want to promote/demote.

And the constant manipulation of nominations, either by releasing clips or comments into the house at the appropriate time or (not so far this series), changing the nominated HM's by allowing them to gain immunity etc.

Why is it bizarre for someone to think that? When you consider most of them come from scripted reality TV programs...

I don't think it's 'scripted' but did notice Lateysha's hair changed completely while on the phone to Sam for a few seconds.

Ha ha.

I view the story as spacetime ... not space and time.

They are not two individual components. They are fused together.

How else would spacetime tells matter how to move OR matter tell spacetime how to curve??!!

I have for a while thought some of the show was scripted but watching Sam and Evelyn last night when he was outside the diary room just looked like really bad acting especially from Evelyn it was so forced it was awkward to watch

Seriously ... I don't see individual actions of the housemates being scripted BUT I bet they got coached prior to entering and were encouraged to "No. Do less of this." and "Yes. Do more of that."

We see a hint of that process when we watch the housemate interviews to camera prior to them entering the environment.

As to production being scripted.

Well. It has to be, doesn't it? After all, despite the label on the tin, it is entertainment just as the old Top Gear, (the tv show), was billed as being a factual tv show but was actually entertainment and scripted as such. (So many of the episodes in Top Gear were fabricated purely for comedy or effect).

Wannabee Z lister recruitment aside, at least the producers / directors have kept themselves out of things far more successfully this year than the last couple of years.

... So far anyway.

Whilst its true to say that certain twists etc are planned with the knowledge that it will cause tension, i.e revealing noms the most obvious, which will lead to an argument etc, which is the reason for doing it in the first place to cause a certain outcome and so yes BB do manipulate things for effect, but to say that the argument itself is pre-scripted and preplanned with the hms knowledge is not imo. People have got far to cyncial and are far to quick with their knee jerk reactions, that they instantly and automatically assume that everything they see is scripted and will go out of there way to contrive a theory to cover any "plot" holes as they simply cannot and will not be told otherwise. Conspiracy theorists by definition always believe they are right, as if they are not, as they live and breath Conspiracy, take that away from them and they are left with nothing.

On a related note - One of the biggest misconceptions of all for me, is how "actors" (whether pro's or someone who was an extra in an ad ten years ago - shock horror - makes no difference! ) are never treated as mere humans with human feelings and emotions, because they cant show real emotions can they like the rest of us... not if they are actors because actors are always acting right???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
