I currently have a Galaxy S5 on monthly contract with EE. My upgrade date is in two weeks, when I plan to get an S7.

I want to sell the phone I have now, when I upgrade, but the question is, should I unlock the S5 now, through EE's online form, or should I do it after I've upgraded? Does it make a difference? I've always kept my old phones in the past, or, on the one occasion I did sell my S3, I let the person unlock it in a high street shop, and took that amount off the selling price.

Makes no difference, rather do it sooner than later so it's done when you want to sell it.

The phone will need to be in service with EE to be unlocked so you either need to do it before you upgrade or will need to get a PAYG SIM after upgrading & the existing SIM/number being moved to your new phone. Unlocking should only take a day or two after the request so I can't see any reason why you wouldn't do it immediately before changing phones. What possible reason could you have to delay?

Thanks for the info. I've put through my unlock request. Should be all done in about 10 days.

I would unlock while your still in contract, I did as I was ready to change from EE mobile to BT mobile. However when I requested my code to leave EE, they offered a better deal than BT.

When did they bring that policy in, it's never been a requirement in the past.
