Unusual aerial connection point.

Hope someone on here might be able to give me some advice. My girlfriend has cancelled her Virgin Tv suscription and I brought round my old freebies box. Unfortunately I couldn't find an aerial connection point until I can across this

Not sure what to make of it. Anyone seen this before? There was a screw cap on it saying aerial (sakes as the earth one next to it).

I would think that pre-dates UHF TV in the UK by several decades! Possibly even TV itself

If it is connected to anything I doubt it would be a TV aerial.

I think it might be part of Logie-Baird's original installation (other TV pioneers are available).

Edit: external longwire aerial for an old radio receiver? Might be interesting to see if the connection still goes anywhere.

It's an antique radio aerial point, presumably for a long wire (as suggested by NJP).
