David Brent - Lady Gypsy

Obviously it's mostly a byproduct of the upcoming film, and an opportune bit of wish-fulfillment for first time unlucky pop star Gervais, but from this and his previous efforts he knows his stuff and could probably turn out something really quite good if he wanted to. Their comedy roots haven't held back the likes of Matt Berry, Ade Edmondson and Hugh Laurie, so will you be buying the Brent album and would you ever consider buying a 'serious' Gervais album?

Have you heard any of the albums by the above 'artists'?

Knowing your stuff is no guarantee of quality alas.

Still find it hard to believe Gervais created 2 all time great TV Shows(The office and Extras).
Never done any thing before or since worth a watch, isn't remotely funny in interviews, presenting or stand up and is a massive attention seeker. Can't stand him anymore.

Think the secret of his "success" was Stephen Merchant

I think you're probably right. Life's Too Short and Derek, although I liked them, didnt come close to The Office or Extras.

Having said that, neither did Merchant's series Hello Ladies.

I love the song and look forward to the film!

I wasn't really asking what you thought of the man, although there's no doubt he's quite decisive person. I owe him, Merchant and Pilkington a massive debt of gratitude for their podcasts though, which kept my spirits up when my parents passed away in quick succession a few years back.

But, back on topic, could he cut it as a 'serious' musician?

Just as the secret of James Cordens success was Ruth Jones.

Gervaise has a very good voice for singing though.
