You do realise that a few years back the Welsh media tore Coleman to shreds, the fans wanted him sacked and they booed the players off the pitch when they took a beating.
How things can change. He and the team had the balls to fight back. This notion that no England manager or team will ever be a success because of the media is, frankly, poppycock ! |

Loved Italia 90. For me the last, great England team.

Northern Ireland and the Republic showed it against Ukraine and Italy respectively, two games both had to win to stay in the tournament.
I think Wales have a bit more attacking flair than their Celtic cousins though. |

The last time I think we played anything like that was when we went to Germany and won 5-1, sadly that was a very, very, long time ago now.

The media and public react to their national team in other countries, they're set up to fail here under the hilarious guise of 'England Expects'. Raheem Sterling's photo was used by The Sun to illustrate a story of a drug dealer who used to play football that has absolutely no reference or link to Sterling in any way. It's poison.
Don't get me wrong though, it's also mostly for football reasons. A lack of organisation and structure, someone said about square pegs and round holes which covers England for at least the past 15 years. |

What about when we beat Germany in that friendly in March.
Everyone was pretty excited then and full of praise. Or are we just talking at major tournaments? |

They weren't low, never are and never will be. The group exit was a disgrace, heads needed to roll, England are all overpaid overhyped spoiled pampered whatevers. Next tournament it's the pretence of low expectation, same result, same reaction, same horrible smear campaigns because outrage sells.

Nobody should forget we beat Wales and completely dominated them for 90 minutes. Wales are showing that sometimes a lot of luck can make up for lack of ability.

Okayyyy then. Did you watch the game tonight?
![]() Ref missed a bad foul on Lukaku on the edge of the box which was a certain second yellow and reduced 10. Minutes later he missed a stone wall penalty decision for Belgium that would have surely drawn them level. That's two huge slices of luck there alone. |

Yes they played well but were very lucky.

I wish our English players had played with the same passion as some of theirs!

A mental problem caused by what?
The longer we keep failing the more the pressure builds to succeed. They get far too tight and sports stars cannot deliver if they are unable to relax and play their normal game. Look at Wales tonight. No pressure, great expectations or stress. They could just go out and play. Steven Gerrard was brutally honest the day after Iceland, about his failures for England. Under pressure during games you start to worry about letting people down and being slaughtered by the media and fans. He said you know shouldn't be doing it, but you can't stop it happening. All kinds of negative thoughts going on in there heads instead of calmly thinking about getting back into a game. This mental block is going to take some getting rid of. |

Was ill last night, couldn't watch it live, but caught it this morning and am cursing that I couldn't watch this great performance live. No, Belgium weren't at their best, bur Wales played as a team, didn't go to pieces when they went behind, and some of the individual skill such as Kanu's take and turn for Wale's second was skill of the highest order. Coleman made it very clear when he said after the game that 4 years ago Wales were as far away from this point as could be imagined. The best quote I could give is "Don't be afraid to fail"..... In their 4 games England didn't play this way, no one can claim differently. Wales showed all the overplayed words, desire, heart etc. But mostly they played AS A TEAM!. England didn't. |

Wales have plenty of abilty but unlike England they show it.Look at Robson Kanu does not even have a club and what a brilliant goal as was the third kiler goal
If any of Englands strikers were Welsh, they'd be in the side ahead of him. Wales deserve all the credit for how they've developed, and played for a number of years, and I'd love them to win the whole thing, but I dont see the point of praising them in a way to attack England. |

I cant see the top clubs queuing up for him. It was a fantastic goal, but lets not pretend he is in the Cruyff class.
