What's the point in having good strikers on paper if they fall apart on the pitch?
They fell apart in one game. They've all had excellent seasons, and have proven records. Would you ditch players for one bad game?

I would prefer him to Sterling any way there must b better english players available to play where he plays he is so overrated cannot believe he was selected in the first place the english fans in their last did not think much of him considering the boo's he got from them
I wouldn't class Sterling as one of our strikers, and I wouldn't have picked him for the squad, never mind the team.

Townsend had a good finish to the season, and would have been a better option.

I cant see the top clubs queuing up for him. It was a fantastic goal, but lets not pretend he is in the Cruyff class.
Right. His international record as of today is a pitful 34 caps and 4 goals. A slightly better ratio than Heskey to be fair though.

He plays in a similar role to Stirling and HRK is twice as good but that's not saying much.

Ah, but *what* goals! (Okay, scored with his shin against Slovakia, but it was the winner so who cares...)Thought he was superb from the off last night. Almost free on goal early doors but got penalised despite it being a foul against him, another burst lead to the corner for the equaliser, and later;well, we all saw it. Taken off when he was tiring so Vokes came on. Turned out to be a pretty good idea!

We're good at beating the minnows.

It's when we come up against the mighty Iceland that we falter.
