Quarter-Final: Germany vs Italy - (2/7/16) KO 8pm, BBC1/HD
Coverage of the game will also be on talkSPORT, BBC Radio 5 Live and on the BBC Sport website and App.
This is the 9th time that the two giants will meet at a major tournament. Germany have yet to beat their opponents with Italy claiming 4 wins and the other 4 matches drawn. Overall this will be their 34th meeting. Italy have 15 wins, Germany 8 wins. Germany have reached at least the semi-finals in their last five major tournaments. The last time they failed to do so was at Euro 2004. They have won 14 of their last 17 games at major tournaments, drawing 2 and losing 1 (which was against, you guessed it, Italy, at Euro 2012). The Germans are also the only team yet to concede a single goal at Euro 2016. Italy have kept 19 clean sheets in 37 Euro games, more than any other team in the history of the tournament and just ahead of Germany (18 clean sheets in 47 games). They have already won three games at Euro 2016, their highest tally (excluding penalty shoot-outs) at the tournament since Euro 2000. The Azzurri have just suffered 1 defeat in 14 competitive games under Antonio Conte. |

I really fancy Italy to win tonight. It may take longer than 90 minutes, but for me the Azzurri have been the most impressive team in the tournament so far and will take some beating now. And they have that incredibly impressive historic record over the Germans that should give them a little bit of a mental edge going into this.

Italy are Germany's nemesis at tournaments, which is why they are super pumped up now to beat them. They will attack, attack, attack and I fear for Italy

Expect this to be incredibly dull as neither side give much away and it will be a very tetchy game.
2-0 Germany, with an early goal and a counter. |

2-0 Germany, with an early goal and a counter. With the one sided tournament record between the two, Italy must be favs. |

a shame that these 2 are meeting at this stage but hoping for a blockbuster encounter...
despite the history favouring italy this is a tough one to call... but i do think that whoever comes through here will win the whole thing. |

Just hope it's a cracker (Frank Carson mode) but would hope for an Italy win. Haven't won this tournament for a long time, and Germany already won the last WC so shouldn't be greedy!
![]() After last night's emotional roller coaster, I'll hopefully enjoy a good game whilst wondering if I'll wake up soon, really. |

I think the final will be Italy v Wales
Wales to beat Portugal to get to the final France to beat Iceland and Italy to beat Germany Then Italy to beat France. I wonder how many of these predictions will be correct. Would love to hear others predictions There are plenty of options |

Strange, that Germany team looks set up to replicate the Italian formation.

This match is at least as tough to call as Spain v Italy and I got that one wrong. I really have no persuasive reason to favour either side in this match. I just hope it's a higher than expected scoring match, say 3-2 in normal time, and that if Italy win they are not deprived of too many players because of suspensions for the semi-final (against France).
If compelled to choose, I will say Germany, but it is based on nothing but a feeling which doesn't convince me, never mind anyone else.. |

Would love to hear others predictions There are plenty of options And Ronaldo scores the winning penalty France and Iceland goes to penalties with France scoring all of them and Iceland missing all of theirs Germany and Italy will go to penalties with Germany coming out on top because they always win penalty shootouts The France Germany semi final will be won in extra time by a Thomas Muller goal. His first for the tournament And the final will be won easily by Germany producing a masterclass of attacking football With Ronaldo crying like a baby and no one consoling him |

Is Pelle the best-looking player in Euro 2016? He's incredibly gorgeous!

I do fear that it will be a case of neither side wanting to lose. If you see what I mean.
Germany always seem to pull something out of the bag even when things don't seem to be going their way. The latter stages of the 1st half against Ukraine should be indicative., |

I don't hold out much hope for this match being anything other than a midfield chess match.
Saying that, I think the Germans will be so fired up to end the hoodoo the Italians have over them that that quality alone will get them over the line. |

With the 11 players already on yellow cards, lots of these players will miss the semi finals
Ridiculous |
