The final episode was really shocking and also fantastic

But do we know why Davey Webb killed McKay, when he was helping to protect him

Did he kill him because of what happened to his sister and he wanted to show his mother that he is loyal to the family

Or did the mother have a word with him and told him to kill him for revenge

Or did the blokes that Mckay was trying to protect Davey from get to him and threatened him to kill McKay, or his family would be all killed, if he did not do it

Goodness that is three good questions there.
Could be any one of them couldn't it.

All three theories are very plausible. Laser Byrne is still out there which would make #3 a possibility, but #1 and #2 are equally valid.

What a sad and emotional episodes.

Poor claire.

I really like Mckay, I can't believe Davey stabbed after the help mckay did for him. This is all because Paudge the idiot.

I have to laugh at the way Paudge call his mom mammy. It nice to see his mom being introduced.

This is the best show on tv atm, I am already having withdrawl symptoms. It very enteranting/good and it much better than the other so called soaps.

It definitely puts the UK soaps to shame. Good actors and real and believable storylines instead of the usual sensationalist nonsense.

Interesting that Paudge's mammy is living in Dublin. It seems they must have moved there from the south west (maybe Limerick) when he was a teenager, as they both still have strong south west accents.

More news of the second series of Red Rock on the BBC! Looks like it will return in another daytime slot with a two month run of daily episodes. By my calculations, these will be all TV3 episodes aired from January to December 2016 :

I can't wait until next year that too long. but I suppose it will be worth it in the end. This is actually the best soap, I have found every episode to be enjoyable and good.

In fact, I'm not even sure if it's a two month run as they don't necessarily have to show five episodes a week, nor do we know when it will be shown (could be the exact same slot in July again, who knows?)

It was nice to see a letter in yesterday's 'Sun' praising Red Rock

I have had an incredible few monthns watching this show. I loved it instantly from episode 1. Top quality drama from good old Ireland. They should be proud at producing such a fine show

I am already have withdrawal symptoms.

I think the best thing about Red Rock is that it only two episodes a week. So no filler. No idiotic silly characters. Everyone plays a part. There is a great rotation of story-lines so everyone has a chance to shine but it never goes in danger of allowing story-lines to go on hold for too long.

Just wonderful.

Sorry that I am really late with this reply, I am still only at episode 27 as I have had a few days holiday and am bingeing on my drug of choise - Red Rock (Just like Conor is bingeing on his drug of choice )

I am a Belfast lad and am not up with it on the Dublin slang, but I think that Paudge is another name for Paddy / Patrick, which has been diddled about with in recent years.

At the same time, I have a feeling that the writers may be mucking about a little, as there was a comedy series on Telefis Eireann a few years ago called "The Podge and Rodge Show" - two puppets who were examples of the worst type of old fashioned, mummy loving Irish men, who had a place in the dark side of Midlands Ireland (Not the type of place where tourists go to). i may not be the only one who thinks that Red rocks Paudge is another version of the puppet character Podge. Take a look and tell me what you think

To give you an example, here are a few clips from that programme - Any chance that a British company might show this, as it is very funny

Enjoy it. I have watched the video at least ten times and it still makes me laugh

Paudge would be a nickname for the name 'Paudie' (pronounced Pawdee) which is another form of Padraig (Patrick). Very much a name from rural Ireland though, probably the west or south west, so they deliberately gave Paudge a rural Irish sounding name to fit his character.

Podge from 'Podge & Rodge' is yet another spelling of Paudge

Yes, there's no UK Red Rock account, just the Irish pace one from TV3, so it's no use to British viewers as it's too far ahead.

That's why i don't use twitter when it comes to television shows. Otherwise, you are just asking to be spoiled. Especially as i follow television shows at my own pace.

Indeed, it's very tricky if you're not watching the show live but recorded instead. I've had to disable the Facebook page for Red Rock any night it's on Irish TV for fear of reading what happened during the episode.

Wow, I have just caught up on the final episode after a binge watch yesterday and today.

I originally started to watch the show as it is Irish, and I always give Irish shows a chance as the are shown few and far between over here. After two BBC type episodes, I became hooked and have become one of the converted - it is an excellent show.

I nearly missed the fortnight of shows that were moved to BBC2, as my telly recorder is an old one and while it can series link okay, it cannot series link from one station to another, so I have to divvy up quick with using the Iplayed and working out which episode related to the first BBC2 one.

Got there in the end, and I am so glad I did. I had thought that after McGonigle had been caught that that would be the end of the interest for me, as it was such a strong storyline in the first series (TV3 style). But no, I have developed an interest and love for most of the characters, which kept hooked until I watched the final episode this afternoon.

Now I am a big butch Irishman (one of those adjectives is a lie ) and normally do not tear up over most TV drama. I caved in on this one. The acting in the last episode was so good, that I had to pause the programme for a while to dry my eyes, especially the scene where they raised the tricolour outside the station.

I know that there are ways and means to watch the new TV3 series, which starts this week, but myself, I will hang on until January as, to be honest, I have neglected other videos and DVDs of other programmes, to concentrate on this, and I really need to do a catch up elsewhere.

Great show, and as someone said on another posting, the Irish should be proud that we were able to produce a drama of as great quality as this. It is especially impressive for TV3, as they are normally an Irish version of Channel 5, and I would not have expected anything of the like of this from them (but I think that the Irish Government grant and the support from Costcutter (source - Irish Times 11 Sept 2016, but unable to find an online link) and the Irish Daily Mail helped.

Only 3 1/2 months to go. The new series should brighten up the normally dull January days, and will be something to look forward after the busy-fest of Christmas.

And for Christmas, I will be asking for a new digital recorder which can series-link between BBC1 and BBC2, as well.

As a new viewer to the show, I have to say I don't like the harmonica in the theme music. I'd love to hear what it sounds like with the harmonica taken out.

Here are the brand new opening titles for Red Rock which premiered on Irish TV last night, minus harmonica :

Safe to watch as it contains no spoilers, but don't try and open any other tweets on that page if you're watching at UK pace.

I liked the Harmonica in the opening credits. I thought it sounded quite haunting.

I agree, it reminded me of The Alarm (group from the 80s)
