I'll give it one more episode but it's really not doing anything for me so far. Sadly they're giving the weaker actors too much to do.

Episode 2 - 8/10

Remember tomorrow's episode is on BBC2 at the usual time of 1:45pm.”

Episode 1 premiered yesterday with 1.1m viewers on BBC1, that's pretty decent

Yes, I saw on the ratings thread Like any new show, viewers are curious to see what It's about so the ratings will always be higher for the first episode or indeed first few, but as you can see from some of the comments here, It Isn't for everyone. I, for one am enjoying it, like I said It was much better today.

That's very good indeed. I hope they keep it up, I'm really enjoying it now I'm starting to get familiar with all the different characters.

In the few minutes I watched, the production values and over-acting, reminded me of Acorn Antiques, but it wasn't as funny.

It gets better and better, trust me There are some strong storylines coming soon involving characters that you have already seen that will have you riveted and glued to the screen.

Hmm..

That's a bit "belt and braces," isn't it?

A few too many metaphors for comfort, but you get the drift

Just after 2 episodes I am beginning to strongly dislike the 'Returning Mother' sorry I can't even remember her name at the moment, but she is just awful. Thankfully her daughter can see through her more than her other son.
I'm sure she will soon be the programmes 'Super Bitch' closely followed by the Mother of the alleged murderer, who has taken lessons from some of the other Soap Bitches for sure.

Eurostar, we meet again We last met on the 1916 thread. If you say it's good it will be a good one for me!!
You must know the area and the character types so I will take your word. I liked the first 2 episodes and recognised some of the scenery so I was hooked

Hi Bobby's girl Many of the scenes are actually filmed in my own area in Dublin so it's more than familiar to me. I've watched all episodes so far and have seen my local shops and the park as the backdrop as well as other local landmarks. I passed the Red Rock crew as they were filming one day last winter and 'Katie Kiely' was there with them (she was the daughter in the funeral scenes today)

I watched the first episodes again yesterday. UK viewers are very lucky to be getting it with no adverts. The 40 minute slot allows you to get lost in the action. That's why I normally record it. You're also getting five weeks worth in a week.

Like any new show, it takes time for the stories to get going and for you to get to know all of the characters. I was amazed how much of the cast appeared in the first episodes and how much of the scene they set. The underage sex story becomes compelling viewing. The police group are arguably the strongest unit and I love the Patricia/Bridget feud.

Stick with it and you won't regret it.

I don't like the Romeo & Juliet love story either. The girl from the family with the dead relative could object to the idea of starting a family war simply because she's not a bloodthirsty person. Her forbidden romance is naff and unnecessary thus far. The girl is still my favourite character though.

Apart from that, I'm enjoying it. It's nice to have a contemporary alternative to Doctors, rather than the likes of Father Brown/Doctor Blake. I laughed at the brick line too. The solicitor for the pub-owning family is rather easy on the eye!

You lucky person Eurostar. I love Dublin and the areas around it. We saw the old swimming pool at Dun Laoghaire and the Tower. We stayed in the area a couple of times a few years back and found it lovely.
I like Katie Keily, she is feisty and will not allow anyone to get the better of her so far. We can't wait for the next episode.
Keep safe

The coastal scenes are filmed in and around Dun Laoghaire (as Red Rock is supposed to be a coastal town in County Dublin) but many other exterior shots are filmed in my locality which is about three miles inland. The interior scenes are filmed in a disused factory and office complex - one of the reasons the Garda station looks so convincing is that it is an actual building with many rooms and corridors etc.
