Patricia.....these two don't like each other
Sad to say I missed yesterdays episode. My OH recorded or so he thought at our little holiday home on the coast and when we settled down to watch it nothing had taped
Luckily, we have it on series record at home. Can't wait to get back to watch it. Sounds like I missed a good one. Not quite sure who is the biggest bitch Bridget or Patricia with regards to revenge. Must get our TV/recorder sorted, can't let this happen too often

Just watched the first five episodes in the space of a couple of days. I LOVE it.
I've suspected from very early on that Bridget and Patricia are the main reason the two families are fighting. Both are great characters.
Brian's story with the underage girl surprised to see a story like that at 1:45 on BBC1 but I'm sure it's nothing dissimilar to what Doctors might have covered in the past (which I've never watched). Absolutely gripped.
So is this Monday-Friday for the next 35 episodes?
It is indeed, Monday to Friday for the next seven weeks but it will switch to BBC2 for a fortnight during the Olympic Games.

One of the big pluses to it is that it looks so realistic. The Garda station scenes are filmed inside a real (disused) building which has many rooms and corridors and many other scenes are shot on location of course. Plenty more action to come from the characters you've mentioned above in coming weeks

Forgot that this was due to start this week. Watched all 5 episodes this morning and loved it, like the mix of serial and stand-alone storylines. Hope we find out more about the history of the Hennessey-Kiely feud, I'm certain there will be a lot we aren't aware of yet. And as much as I'd like to see McGonigle get his comeuppance I hope it isn't too soon and get to see him go full on 'evil villain'.

Are we going to get all of the first season in this block? 10x20-min episodes a week (shown as 5x40-min episodes) will be 40 episodes over the next 4 weeks but the first series was 44 episodes and finished on a shocking cliffhanger (Apparently). Will we get these final four-episodes over two extra days of will they hold them over until series 2 which was only 36 episodes I believe.

I think I will wait and binge watch every weekend.

We're going to get the big cliffhanger and then head straight into the next set of episodes on the BBC version. Series 1 on Irish TV3 was 44 episodes but Series 2 had 78 episodes. So we're going to get all of S1 and about half of S2 during this BBC run. If I remember my dates correctly, there is a huge shock and cliffhanger (even bigger than the first one) coming the end of the current BBC1 run.

There's no rule that says you have to watch it live anyway. A lot of people seem to watch programmes this way

Exactly don't know what I'd do without catch up tv now.

Anyone know how it's doing ratings wise?

I'd forgotten how good the opening episodes were and how the series hit the ground running.

Paudge and his one liners are one of the highlights of the show, he's a very lazy and reluctant Garda
I love Paudge already

I gave up after about 10 mins yesterday.. I will give it another go today and see if i like it any better but dare i say?........ i'm not keen on the Irish accent!..... ,,
That's a big plus for me I love the Irish accent

All we know is that Episode 1 was watched by 1.1m viewers on Monday (which is pretty healthy).

I do wonder if Series 2 will be shown in a different time slot, otherwise they would have to wait nearly a whole year for Doctors to take its next break.

They might show it after Doctors like they did with Dr Blake and APTCH. It wold be better than repeats of Escape to the Country etc etc.

Yeah a brilliant time slot for Red Rock would be at 2.15pm until 3.00pm. I don't have to worry about that because I'm from Northern Ireland and I follow TV3 pace but whenever BBC catch up I'll start watching on BBC without advertisements. If they keep going what they are doing they will catch up sometime next year 2017. When the UK catch up the schedule should be like this: Wednesday and Thursday as normal at 8.30pm on TV3 Ireland and Friday only with both episodes on BBC One at 2.15pm until 3.00pm of that week.

That's good numbers but is it always destined for an afternoon slot when we catch up a Weds night would be good on BBC

Who knows, it could be moved to just about any timeslot on BBC1. They might have to slow down the pace in future a little too, perhaps fewer than five episodes a week : at the moment, it's almost like an episode of Casualty or something every day of the week.

I don't follow this series, but I just had it on in the background a short while ago. Whilst not being a prude by any means, I was a bit surprised that "feckin'" is clearly deemed OK for daytime broadcast...

Isn't it essentially "f*ckin'"? I didn't think it was even a euphemistic substitute like "flippin'", etc...
I can clearly remember hearing f.eck being said on a children's programme called Dempsey's Den back when I was a child. As far as I know it didn't cause a storm of complaints either so its obviously not a real swear word.

ETA - how funny, the word filter here censors it!

Good episode today, especially the storyline involving Sean and Adrijan.

Sean coming across a bit of an immature idiot while Adrijan is intelligent and perceptive.

Somehow missed these episodes when they originally aired last year, so it was great catching up with them today. Good twist with Charlene's character. Delighted to see the renewed success that the show is experiencing now that it's available to UK audiences.

Great episode today, the best of the series so far in my opinion.

I was pleased that the 'Romeo and Juliet' story between David and Katie is out in the open, or at least partly. I thought it was going to be a bit of a cheesy add-on to the Kiely/Hennessy feud, but it's actually a key part of the story now.

Enjoyed the smaller story with Sean and Adrijan too. I like Adrijan as a character and look forward to seeing more of him. Embarrassingly, I quite fancy Sean even though he's a total pillock!

All in all, a really enjoyable episode.

One thing did cross my mind while watching. Are there any older characters? By that I mean 60+. It seems to be the only thing that's 'missing'.

Sean wouldn't mind you fancying him....he'd claim he was used to it!

And Paudge's mammy will be making her debut soon enough

Any idea of ratings? I know episode 1 was received well, but haven't heard of any figures since then. It definitely gets better as it goes along, like most things. But these days people have no patience.

This is only the start of it. McGonigle gets progressively worse, mark my words.
