MP3 player problems

Never had an MP3 player before now, but I was pretty confident in using one.

Bought this little cheapo from Ebuyer .

Turned up this morning. I tried to make sense of the (basic) instructions (clearly written by a Japanese bloke, down to the other languages in the leaflet) - I could have done almost as well in Japanese!

Put it together, stuck it in a USB drive, put some songs on it. Un'stuck' it, put some earphones in, press the 'on' button, and low and behold, it doesn't work.

The 'on' button's broken. Lot of use. So what percentage of MP3 player go wrong? Has anybody had one of these players before?
