Do you remember watching that game because i have only see clips over the years
Was it as good as you remember And how did you feel when Harald Schumacher fouled Patrick Battiston knocking him out cold |

France march on. Them and Germany should be a great battle.
Iceland have had a great tournament. Them and their fans have been superb. Quote:
Not really,
Khedira is injured, Schweinsteiger is injured and for Gomez the tournament is over. That plus the yellow card against Boateng. Germany seem to have no chance. Shame Iceland lost tonight but France were too good |

Don't think Schweinsteiger is injured as he seemed fine after coming on early in the first half yesterday and taking a penalty in the shootout? He did get booked though so do you mean he misses it due to that?
Shame Iceland lost tonight but France were too good Schweinsteiger really is injured and won't be able to play according to the press. He wasn't completely fit to play to begin with. |

France going 3-1 up in extra time and everyone thinking justice would prevail. But west Germany bringing it back to 3-3 and taking us to penalties which sadly you knew they would win. Spain 82 was the best tournament for me in my lifetime |

France were impressive, but going on some of their defending Germany will be kicking themselves if they don't advance to the final.

I remember watching that extra time between W Germany and France in '82.
At the time you weren't sure if the Schumacher crash was deliberate or not. German resilience won out that day. It might end the same this time but France are hard to beat on their own turf. |

The Germans will be whipping balls into the box like nobody's business on Thursday evening.

Gomez is a HUGE loss for Germany. And aside from Boateng and Neuer, Germany's defence looks even dodgier than the French. And the French attack looks amazing.
I'm glad that at least their historic win against Italy left some scars and half the Germany team is either injured or suspended. France v Portugal final please! |

Oh man. Didn't realise Gomez was out for the rest of the tournament. Big blow indeed.

It's amazing how your favourite teams, managers etc. are the absolute best until right before a big game when they transform into no-hopers.
An even slightly better Italy team or even a fit De Rossi would have tipped that game in Italy's favour.I still think Low is the best manager and Germany the strongest team in this tournament, but I just read about all the injuries and that Gomez is out. That's a massive loss right there. Boateng and Neuer are in outstanding form, but the other defenders aren't. Anyway, I was tipping France to win it before the tournament started. On paper, their team looked incredible and now they started gelling as a team, Germany won't have it easy |

Hey, my team are Italy and yesterday's game left me absolutely heartbroken. And my fears were right

Germany missing MarioGomez is not a big loss
Germany missing Sami Khedira is a big loss I dont fancy Emre Can coming into midfield and doing a better job than him |

As soon the he came off against Italy, Germany lost half of their attacking bite. With Muller being out of form, Gomez was crucial. Draxler can't fill his boots |

Germany always manage to find a way though. Gomez is a big miss but France look dodgy at the back so there are still chances to be had.

Khedira is always missing in big games. That's nothing new and I would choose Schweinsteiger on crutches over Khedira every time. He has never turned up for big games and has always been a coward. An injured Schweinsteiger (and I must say Ozil) won Germany the WC final against Argentina.

Honestly, I cannot see any realistic possibility of either Portugal or Wales winning against either of the two giants on the other side. I wish I could see even a slight chance for Portugal, but I can't
The second they benefit from playing their match against a weaker opponent 24 hours earlier than the France vs. Germany slugfest - which is also likely to be much more physically demanding, possible injuries, etc. Portugal certainly haven't been the best team at the tournament. But they've been quietly going about their business and are near certainties to get into the final. Ronaldo deserves to win an international prize and I think this will be the one for him. I think the extra day of rest will be a huge benefit for them against whoever wins the France/Germany game. The bookies will make them something like 36% chance to win. They'll have a very real chance to win, and I'll back them to do it. |

The extra day of rest could be a big advantage.... I don't remember semis taking place on weds and thurs in previous world cups or euros... Thought it was Tuesday and weds...
