Working with a band on tour

Default Working with a band on tour
How do people even get these jobs, when there not advertised. I know some people started off with the band but there are loads of people coming in and out of the band.

Ie Tour manager sound engineer etc., where do they get these people from.

Some of them are lucky yes, but a lot of them know how to get these jobs because once one band finishes they find a new famous band like magic.

How did they get there in first place?
How do they hear about the jobs?

Google is your friend! Instruction 'manual' here!

It's not as glamourous or fun as some imagine. Long unsocial hours, hard physical work, no sick pay, low income, no pension pot so you'd need to organise a private pension. The majority will be self employed.

Personally i would imagine the better jobs would be in trucking because at least they have their HGV licences enabling them to go elsewhere once a band tour comes to an end.

Thanks,

I've tried google and even read books but still can't pinpoint what needs to be done.

For example

I read one book where your manager said he got a break, but he knew he would make it even without that break as he belived in himself.

So I was thinking if I belived in myself and moved to London to purse this, I still would not have a clue where to start.(plus I have no experience or skills in music)

Where do all the bands play?

Maybe someone on here has worked with a band.

That's true it's very hard work, but what job isn't, here you travel the world and if you love music it's best job one could have.
Plus spend time away from family, it's not low pay if you work for a decent band.
