Should Grunge make a comeback since the world seem too be going down the pan.

It never really went away plenty of grunge bands from that era still going and new ones around as well, check out the US modern rock chart for one place it never left.

But I get your point a movement is needed to shake things up but I just don't think the industry can work like that anymore but who knows.

I'm not sure if you would call them grunge but there are a lot of current bands influenced by it and 90's alternative rock. The most successful is Wolf Alice. Other bands are Bully, Courtney Barnett, Yuck, Speedy Ortiz, Dilly Dally and Torres.

Wolf Alice seem like a good band. They have a chilled vibe.

They have a mixture of songs, some are more laid back but they also have harder more guitar driven songs. Their EP had more of a grunge influenced sound, but on the album My Love is Cool, they added different type of songs, since they didn't want to be pigeonholed as a "grunge revival" band.

Well Pearl Jam never went away, still making records and headlining festivals the world over. So i'd say they were and are the most popular grunge band esp when you consider Stone and Jeff were right at the inception of the Seattle sound with Green River and Mother Love Bone before forming Pearl Jam.

True but they stopped being grunge a long time ago

How so?

They still play the same style of music, stick with the same fashions and still write lyrics with shot though with social issues and politics.

The only way they stopped being grunge is because grunge in itself doesn't exist anymore.

Maybe it should, but I can guarantee you it won't. Rock is dead, completely.

I just mean their last few albums have been more country rock they have moved away from that style but I guess they still play the old ones.

daft question....

what do you mean 'should'?...

if it doesnt evolve naturally out of a desire then no music 'should' or can exist. it cannot be forced.

There is nothing remotely country rock about either Backspacer or Lightning Bolt....

Bob Mould never went away, it doesn't need to make a comeback.

Of course rock isn't 'dead', what a stupid thing to say.

In terms of Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, and Progressive Music, Rock is the healthiest it has been for a very long time. You wouldn't get 85,000+ at the likes of Download and all of the other Rock Festivals throughout Europe if that wasn't the case.
