Can I ask what is perhaps a silly question, but what does the term 'ringer' actually mean - I know it means they've got a good chance of winning but why that word??
It was used in horse racing when a fast horse was substituted for a slower one that it resembled (a "ring-in"), "Ring" was used by the criminal fraternity to mean to "substitute" usually with the intention to defraud someone. And that probably comes from back in the days when Anton was a lad and counterfeit metal coins didn't make the correct ringing sound when they were dropped on a hard surface - they didn't ring true. Here endeth the lesson. Sorry to go on

Playing catch up, still got 3 pages to go. Eeeeeeek 😂 Quote:
Wow!!
Couldn't sleep for some reason so was playing on tablet & I think I may have accidentally found how to link from twitter!!!!! Just experimenting I know these are not new!! https://mobile.twitter.com/georgiafo...4523616256?p=p https://mobile.twitter.com/AldoZilli...31993624801280 The things you find out at 4.30 in the morning!! Quote:
Wahey! Well done NDD! And thanks to everyone else too for the links and photos from the last day or so, have also been having an early morning catch up
![]() Afton best wishes for your Daisy today x Quote:
Morning everyone!
Just posting a quick pic of Jo and her boyfriend https://instagram.com/p/BJGpkUnj_f4/ Good to see her loved up as well. He is so tall! Hope everyone has a good day and well done Team GB so far and of course Mr Bolt Quote:
Well I sincerely hope there isn't any unless Daisy sneakily took a video of that funny looking woman at the front capering around!!
You could be right that Jo's tweet is something to do with the lovely Joe. It's a bit soon for an engagement but you never know! Anyway, whatever it is, best of luck to her and I hope she gets a great partner on Strictly. Would love to see jo with a decent partner Quote:
Oh we really do!! Shouldn't be too hard to find 3 rich, handsome, Sicilian dancers who cook!!
Hope your poor dog is okay afton hope everything goes well today!! Thanks for the invite to the samba party! I'll be there!!💃 Quote:
Morning everyone beautiful day here today
FLORA what a lovely idea I'm my mum's main carer she is 93 years and has dementia and one of the things that we can get her talking about non stop is when she used to go dancing with her friends during WW2 and you're right Strictly does unite the generations xAFTON I hope your Daisy will be up and about and feeling better soon x And thanks Flora. Daisy is home, doing well and is being a right diva 🐶 Quote:
but you'll have to dress up a bit when you take part in Strictly, lots of sparkly shirts slashed to the waist
that's amazing, was your mum a dancer ? it is sad, another lady I visit is bedridden now but she was a professional ballroom dancer when she was younger sorry to hear about Daisy, but I'm sure she'll be fine after the operation .... will she have to wear a collar? yes, Collaw has disappeared .... and what about Hazel ? hope all is well with her and her family ![]() and I thought my son was tall at 6 ft 3 in ..... Jo's boyfriend looks very nice, hope it all works out for her My mum only danced for pleasure Ruby but she was a lovely dancer. Daisy's fine thanks and she's got to wear her collar for ten days. No up on the couch or up and down stairs. She loves running up and down the stairs too 🐶 Quote:
That's very true Ruby!
Now sparkly, shiny shirts I like the idea of! Now we've seen some examples of extremely lazy journalism recently, but I think this one tops the lot! Has Len Goodman written that article?! ![]() I've given up on these articles. Same old, same old. They are a bunch of lazy beeee's (and not the yellow and black ones)🐝🐝 Quote:
collaw is off line completely - not on Twitter either !
Hope he is away from home. I see Hazel on Twitter - she is very busy with al those beautiful boys and seems as happy and upbeat as ever. Quote:
One more oldy , won't go far with her, people not like those who have had dancing experience unless a boy band member
Been busy studying air fares money , anyone here understand fuel dumping ?if you don't understand the term you will not be able to help ![]() It is a way of reducing air faresQuote:
Glad Delly is ok. Speak to you soon!!
![]() Afton - I hope Daisy's op went well. Collaw!!!!!!! You're baaack!!! - and by your comments, you are still the same Collaw Quote:
Just for fun
![]() The next strictly contestant had been revealed! ![]() He refused to wait any longer for his name to be published. He also says he is going to do things his way or it's the highway. Rumour is that he has recently become a bit of a diva in the dance world......... https://www.instagram.com/p/2aWuSDIU...gged=rebelgoat Yes it's our Alfonso!! |

Yay!!!!!!! Go Alfonso! Go the GlitterGoat!
Will be down to Betfred tomorrow to put house and pension pot on an Alfonso and Star wiping the floor with the opposition (or it could just be Star wiping the floor if Alfonso gets excited - anyone remember Blue Peter and the elephant?) Quote:
Alfonso the rebel! A diva indeed!
![]() YES - I've been shown this video many times Let's hope that Star will keep Alfonso under a bit more control than that. Quote:
Thin ice, Collaw. Very thin ice!!

You must agree Jamie is a D@@@@head knows nothing about football managementQuote:
I know nothing about Football or its management lol. Bunch of overpaid idiots kicking a sack of air around a field!! And you don't want to hear what I call it when they schedule matches over my soaps
![]() ![]() ![]() Quote:
Afton so sorry to hear about your dog ,they become such a part of your family sure she will be fine
Quote:
Totally with you there star!! I know many people on their 40's (maybe even 50's) who are a lot fitter than many people in their 20's!! At the end of the day if you look after yourself and are fit anyways age doesn't really come in to it!! From what I've seen of Louise she fits into the category of being in good shape!! Plus I'm 30 next month and I am most definitely not old
It's good to have you back collaw but I think you should be banned from talking about people's ages!! The jive was Georgia's first dance so not only was she learning to dance full stop she also had to build up the stamina to keep up with Gio, anyone would have struggled with that in the first week I'm sure. Quote:
That could well be collaw - I imagine he looks just like that !

Just listened to the interview, it was only a short one. i think this is pretty much everything that was covered.
Georgia had not long been awake at the start of the interview She talked about BAT, she's never watched the film as the play is set in an entirely different time so didn't want to have the Audrey Hepburn Holly on her mind. The costumes for BAT are beautiful and they have 22 costume changes during the show. She's always wanted to do a stage production and being live in front of an audience on Strictly gave her even more of a taste to do it, so when this opportunity came up she jumped at it. They asked if she was disappointed that she didn't win and she said no, her main aim was to get to the final to do every dance (Well actually we never got an AT ) and make her family proud and she did that so she was very happy. She can't wait to come to Belfast as it's a beautiful city They asked what did she prefer, working on Corrie or doing Strictly, she said Corrie was a great experience but strictly was amazing, it taught her a lot about herself, how much she now loves glitter and sequins and said again how great it was to perform in front of a large audience. She said she's not sure she would do another reality show, strictly was the one she always had her eye on but never say never. Quote:
It was a far better interview than the one that old numpty gave on Friday - an interview all about BAT and not a single personal question asked
![]() They said they would have her in the studio when BAT gets to Belfast. Quote:
If the DM gets hold of this they will say that GG must now be getting serious as she is now introducing him to her sister !
Quote:
For anyone wanting to listen to Georgia's interview earlier today, here is the link (the interview starts at 03:12:10 - 3 hours 12 minutes in)
http://radioplayer.coolfm.co.uk/la27...n-the-morning/ Quote:
I googled him - very nice looking and 28 !
A stage school kid - at Arts Ed stage school so he obviously trained in dance. Before Hollyoaks he was in Wicked in the West End for 4 years. At least he calls himself an actor - unlike Jay who's wiki says he is a dancer) Does it really Sandy ![]() He has won Soap's sexiest male several years running at the awards ! Only problem is he is quite short about 5ft 8ins - so short , dark and handsome. Now I don't know whether I want Jo to have him or Will. As a big Will fan I am going to complain right now that this boy is a ringer - Will is a ringer too but not such a ringer ![]() Quote:

I am now too old to be a revolutionary - I spent years protesting to no purpose, they still experiment on animals for example and there is still factory farming but it is only when the left win elections that we actually achieve something - banning of guns and fox hunting and the introduction of the minimum wage and so on. I really don't want to belong to a protest group for life which is where you lot are going ! |

BIB. well Brian I'll get on to her and let her know she's slacking. 😂😂
Unfortunately 😡 Wonder if they'll take her to Aldo Zilli's restaurant 🤔 Perhaps my mistranslation earlier this week has put her off a bit, as I accidentally stated that she had already broken into GGs house! I guess they will have taken her out somewhere, unless they had one of Georgia's homemade specials which have got rave reviews in the past! Haven't heard anything about Gio's homemade specials, but from what I've heard about his cooking I'm sure they would be very 'special' indeed!
