Eh?! Not sure how I abused you - I just said I didn't think it was very nice of you to call me an idiot when I was actively trying to stop people posting spoilers, to help those of you who didn't want to know! Not sure I can reason with you on this though! Interesting that you say I'm abusing you when you've called me an idiot and arrogant and I've been nothing but civil!

I have no desire to fall out or for you to bid farewell, but I hope you appreciate that I was only trying to help by stopping people posting spoilers - but in doing so inadvertently quoted one of the offending posts - and for that I'm sorry - that is exactly what I was trying to avoid doing. I'm not sorry for querying why you called me an idiot though!

I think the press should give @georgiafoote & @pernicegiovann1 a break... Breakups suck w/o all the drama they're creating about new series.

This is good! Stay like this girls!
Just had a very quick nosey at her twitter and she has the cutest dog called Mick.
Almost as cute a Stewie ! Just scroll a few tweets down to see him if you like doggies!

I think you should give Laura a chance before calling her "duff". You've only seen her in one group dance and she was hardly visable!!

I agree - I feel sorry for her too she deserved a taller partner and one she was comfortable with.

He's now unliked it.

I don't want them to win ( sorry but i just could not see him lift that Glitterball, not this year anyway ) but i do hope they have a good run when they get over the awkwardness.

I think the best thing Laura could do is to find herself a boyfriend (that is not Gio), as soon as possible and to alert the tabs when they go out for the evening. I'm sure there must be plenty of guys who would jump at the chance even it was just a fauxmance for the duration of Strictly. I'm so glad Georgia sent those 2 tweets tonight. I don't suppose that the tabloids will report the second one tho' talking about the crap people may read. Anyway, if nothing else it will help her keep her Strictly friends like Jo and Janette. I hope that Gio gives her some acknowledgement of her tweet even if it's only in private.

He's so weird on social media. I don't follow it particular closely - but I remember him posting something congratulating Jason Gilkison on the Proms and then deleting it. I don't think there's much rhyme nor reason to it. He's a silly sod though - as that would have been a good one for him to have "liked"

Yes, I agree - would like them to have a good run (and get over the cringe factor) but in any event I don't think they will win it even if they are good. Women who win Strictly tend to be a particular type of personality (eg the self-deprecating Kara) and I think Laura - whilst not necessarily likely to be unpopular, won't really capture the public in the same kind of way - and let's face it, it's a big old popularity contest as much as anything). My one exception to this rule of thumb is Abbey Clancy - but she won in a very weak year - no way would she have won if she'd been in last year's line up.

It just didn't fit to have Anastacia wih Brendan, any more than Laura looks like a match for Gio!!
Every other partnership you could have, and i did, guess purely on height grounds & those four should have been no different!!
As I say if the idea is to make the tabloids wet their pants over 'Strictly Curse' stories I believe they have shot themselves in the foot!!
Laura & Gio look to have as much chemistry as a limp lettuce so far to me!!
Such a shame for her!!

If this is as you say, which seems highly likely it's already blighted the series for me this year as Gio with Anastacia would have been brill and Laura & Brendan would have probably done ok too!!”

I will because I'm not stupid and that's exactly what they have done

Me neither I am supporting the Olympians also Ed Balls and Judge Rinder for the first couple of weeks. She has been let down by the producers though for paper headlines.

It's not fair on any one of them - especially poor Laura who's Strictly journey is going to be nothing about her but everything about the 'Strictly Curse'

This isn't an Oti thread so why would I be thinking about her? It's no different to Anton getting Ann Widdecombe or Karen getting Jeremy Vine or Katya getting Ed Balls - there's always duff contestants, someone has to get them.”

Um sorry to butt in and I don't really comment on the relationship stuff as a rule because mostly for me it's about the fun and the dancing but.. Strictly has always always, traded on the tawdry side of the street a little bit when it comes to pushing the shows relationships. If they don't actually instigate the rumours and tittle tattle they certainly do very little to stop it. It's part of it, and they love the publicity but the BBC cleverly (or cynically) keep their hands clean by by saying 'what? Nothing to do with us, we just put them togther to dance' when they're ramping up the cutesy VTs and picking the romantic dance tracks.

I suspect that all of the pros and possibly the celebs are pretty well versed in how the game is played. If you're single and even passably attractive you're going to be paired up with another single of a similar age etc. Heck they don't even limit it to singlees-Poor Aliona had to run the gauntlet of endless speculation last year despite being fairly recently married, but she handled it well. It's just part of the Strictly schtick. I didn't watch that year but I understand that Alijaz and Abbey had similar tabloid muck thrown at their dance partnership too. It's all mill for the grindstone.

It may sound unkind but they don't owe their previous employee Georgia anything and unless Giovanni has directly told them to not match him with x, y or z, which I doubt he would or could, then who they choose is up to them.

As it happens I actually don't think it would be in Giovannis best interests to go down that road this year, as leaving aside Georgia, if he does find his next relationship on the show he risks getting a label like Kristina had (and still has).

However, at the same time I don't see why he should be 'protected' and only partnered with safer older women or worse, duffers until it's deemed respectable in some weird way to move on. I dunno JMO but if Giovannis going to move on, he's going to do so and sooner or later and Georgia will get to hear about it (sooner given the proliferation of gossip and social media these days) . It could be with Laura, but as I said before given how seriously he takes his career I would imagine that he'd do his best to avoid that.

That said both he and Georgia are very attractive young people so I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear that either are dating someone soon.

I am geniinely sorry you feel that way Maddie!!

Emotions have been running high on the thread since last week's news & I suppose some spats between members was inevitable but It does sadden me when these disagreements can't be reconciled with a virtual handshake & we lose a member because of it!!
However if that is really how you feel then I hope my fellow thread members will join me in wishing you well for the future & thanking you for your many contributions, GG pictures etc you've brought us during your time with us!!

I do agree with this and don't think that the BBC owe Georgia anything at all actually. I think I differ from a lot of people in that view. I certainly don't that he should be "protected" or only paired with older women - that would be weird and a bit of a waste! I think it just irks as we are convinced that there was a particular pairing in place (Anastacia) which would have been awesome, and that they switched it for one (Laura) on grounds purely to stir the shit and play to the tabloids. And that at the moment it seems super awkward. I do hope that they can get over that and do really well though
