Thanks Sandy for the like. Radio Times is delivered on a Tuesday with my paper. Like the inside photo better than the cover one

Completely random aside - I happened to click through to Oti's twitter after her and Gio's twitter conversation about the football and she's just told a lovely story on it, about how a random good deed helped get her her dream job. She helped an English man who was staying in Germany order his dinner as he didn't speak German. And she saw him the next morning at breakfast in her hotel and helped him again and checked he was ok getting around Germany etc. She got chatting to him and it turned out that he works for BBC Worldwide (the commercial arm of the BBC) - and subsequently (presumably after him alerting them to her) the producers contacted her a few months later to see if she would be interested in taking part in Strictly. Her moral of the story - just be nice! Good for her.

I am afraid if Oti is saying that is how she got on strictly she is using a bit of poetic licence - she has known Jason Gilikson (dance director of strictly ) for years her long term partner before she partnered with Marius Lepure was Keo motsepe who was a lead on BTF and now on DWTS - I know that Jason was moving to put Keo on strictly before he went to the States and DWTS so was not surprised when he followed with appointing Oti who with Keo won many South African Championships.
She seems to get a bit carried away her endorsement of the German Team being a bit OTT too ! |

NDD How many can you see?
Quote:
Like you say not sure how she would cope with out our insights into her life and relationship lol.
![]() I don't know if I even want to think about her reading some of the things I've said about her!!!! ![]() I just hope she takes it for what it is, the ramblings of an old geezer twice her age whose heart she has touched in a big way & who is just so happy to see her where she's at now that he sometimes gets himself a little carried away with enthusiasm!! Quote:
I was thinking back in the 70's we would have set up a fan club. We would have paid our
subs to Sandy. Star would have sent us a magazine once a month and NDD's copy would have got lost in the post! Brian would have done the back page quiz and we would have had a lovely Grimsby review from Claire to look forward to.Those were the days though, I actually understood envelopes & postage stamps!!!!! ![]() Quote:
Rumored Tom Daley might take part this year , now he is
young well built , but could you vote for him as he leans the other way is he less appealing , myself can't stand the smile seems like the old fashioned strictly smile painted on At the risk of courting contoversy though, I find people like Louie Spence who purposely shove their sexuality in your face extremely irritating & very off putting, but then that would apply to heterosexual posers too!! this made me laugh. Those were the days. I remember sending off for Duran Duran fanzines in my early teens. It's hard to imagine life without the internet now but we did alright somehow!! ![]() Quote:
I got membership of the Duran Duran fanclub as a 13th birthday present!
Quote:
Actually a bit jealous all these years later! I'd love it if one of them did Strictly, now that's a boy band member I would approve of...or more accurately, have heard of! I would have loved to have had the nerve to be a 'New Romantic' at the time as I loved all the music & some of it actually still sounds fresh & interesting today!! Early Duran, Visage, Talk Talk, Japan, weird but wonderful & so different to the rock music I normally listened to!! Haha, if I'd had the nerve to do it I think the Yorkshire village I live in would have gone into full meltdown, not to mention my dear late Dad!! So in his head a 17 year old NDD wanted to be John Taylor & attract all the girlies but sadly the reality was somewhat different!! Mind, in my head I wanted Kim Wilde as my girlfriend but that never happened in reality either!! ![]() [quote=Mrs Glitterball;83051344] Quote:
A badge and a puffa jacket with a GG logo bit like Gucci but not quite the same Or we could just have a secret sign so that GG fan club folk could recognise each other - a puffa jacket and a piece of goat jewellery. E.g http://rlv.zcache.co.nz/cartoon_goat...4.jpg?rlvnet=1 for example [quote=Sandy_Andrews;83051528] Quote:
Well I think that is a bit naff if you don't mind me saying ...
What about this : http://sculptorstudio.com/images/Bab...ingPendant.jpg Though I do like the cartoon one as well! Think I might have one of each!! |

Yes well I was going to say something like some random man from the BBC World Service couldn't have been that influential and anyway the Strictly people would have been aware of her in the German Strictly - but it sounded carping so I let it go !

I thought it odd as I knew she was on the German version too, but just repeated what she said! I doubt he was in any way influential but maybe it was just an extra coincidence, if not the actual route onto the show

Oh - just noticed something in your post (not that it matters!) - it was BBC Workdwide - not world service. BBC Worldwide is the commercial arm of the BBC, that does programme sales and sells the format - ie for different versions of Strictly overseas - and is responsible for other commercial activities such as merchandise and tours etc. As I say, not that it matters, as it sounds like it's an 'exaggerated' story anyway but BBC Workdwide is much more relevant to Strictly than the World Service would be.
That makes the story more believable, so perhaps this man reminded them of Oti's existence. |

She can't have a more true fan than you. You are also one of the few people here who loved her on Coronation Street too. So a long term fan too ! I think Tom seems to be a very nice lad as you say. I think what you find irritating is camp behaviour which may or may not be anything to do with a person being gay - Lionel Blair for example is allegedly straight but he is as camp as coffee (an old joke which probably only us oldies will understand) |

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/strictly/...udia-Winkleman Might be true but if so he would be a complete ringer - as he was trained in Musical Theatre at Art's Ed, But then again apparently Helen George did a Musical Theatre Course and Jay is described as a dancer on his wiki page so that doesn't seem to be a problem for Strictly. I would think Will would have a very good chance of winning if he takes part - I think we should tell Gio to trip him up week one if he wants to get that glitter ball ![]() BTW I am a really huge Will fan as I have told you all before - probably several times. Wouldn't it be fab if Jo got him as a partner ? - I think he is not tall enough for Natalie who would be my other choice. |
