I've just been watching some of the performances from last week, and without wishing to be critical, I think Claudia and AJ's Samba (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAvrquqswLE) demonstrated just how difficult it is to maintain technique when you're doing a very fast Samba! Don't get me wrong, I thought Claudia did very well to retain as much technique as she did given the speed of it. But I think what it does highlight is how fantastically well Georgia did in her Samba (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJA6_iVSj0o) to maintain nearly all the technique throughout given the speed - granted there was a hand incident in the middle, and a slight loss of balance, but with the amount of stuff she had to do in there, and at such a fast speed, it really does show what an amazing dancer she is, she made lots of extremely difficult technique look very easy indeed. I remember Bruno commenting after the dance that it was "a level of technique I'd never seen before'.

Watching ITT - what is it with Kevin and the hat ?

It's a massive shame that Georgia made that mistake as I think it would have been 10s without. Her Samba was excellent!!


Just watching ITT and Laura and Gio's Tango is looking good - can't see any problem with her ankle. Someone said (it was posted in here, I'm sure..) that the heel leads in this dance will be easier on her ankle but she was toe leading (incorrect) in the VT so it seems absolutely fine.
Great for Gio as he doesn't need to alter or do a more careful routine but I'm a bit surprised as I'd read her ankle injury was pretty serious.

Just watched samba again,what a great dance,so fast. Georgia is a great dancer. Always thought she was last year but comparing her to this years celebrities she really is.
They were so captivating to watch.

Ive just watched ITT and wasn't too impressed with Laura, I thought she was very flat footed. I was assuming this was because of her ankle but I don't know anything about the tango and maybe she was doing it correctly. I thought it looked a bit messy but what do I know. Hope it will look good on the night.

Loved watching GG's tango and samba again! Both such amazing dances! And such a shame about the little mistake in the samba! I'm sure they were so close to getting a couple of tens!

Re Claudia- I do agree Brian , I think if they reach the final and do the samba again I think it could be amazing!!

I'm still upset GG didn't get to do their samba on the final - though I wouldn't actually change anything they did! We got to see that amazing Rumba, and that amazing Charleston - I certainly wouldn't change the fact she got those brilliant comments and heir first 40!! And that beautiful show dance! Still can't believe they didn't get at least 1 ten for that! Should have got 10's for all 3 of their dances though

I like Kevin too, Jammy. I never understand the hate he gets. I wasn't keen on him and Kellie but I loved him and Frankie. Kevin is a great dancer and a bloody good teacher - he teaches his partners extremely well on Strictly.

I loved their paso to America as well. Kevin and Kellie were a bit manic in their dancing for me but loved their Star Wars charleston and them both as people.


Totally captivating to watch. I'm hoping she does a West End musical like Grease or a TV special version. If it was a TV special the Strictly pro's could be the Pink Ladies and T-Birds Anton in a leather jacket and tight jeans, you'd have to hold me back! 😝

Brian, on the Samba debate - that was my favourite GG dance - an absolute cracker.

To make a comparison, the GG song Volare was arranged at 112 bpm. AJ and Claudia's arrangement was 120 bpm - that is really quite significantly faster. And Claudia is tiny so tricky for her to cover enough floor at that pace. AJ could have asked for their song to be arranged a little bit slower to give Claudia a fair chance. I felt for her.

Star, Anne. Agree that training clips today looked frequently 'flat footed' - not proper heel leads. Correctly, you should see Laura hitting the ground with her heel, then rolling onto ball of the foot and then toe. In the clips we saw, no sign of that at all. I saw an almost flat foot with no movement at the ankle so, yes, a toe lead rather than a heel lead, but not a 'proper' ballroom toe lead. As Anne said, flat foot is more like it. Am guessing they are avoiding a stretch through the injured leg's foot, ankle and lower leg.

So they either fix it, cover it with costume or use a lot of dry ice. Len is going to notice as it stands.
