People have only said what's been in the Laura and gio thread! The dances are supposed to be about the celeb not the pro-whether it was done like that because of the injury and she was struggling with it who knows! The point isn't about gios spins - we love those! The point is that Laura was completely out of camera shot!

And I thought it was a little bad that gio would like a tweet saying that he was so good that they forgot to watch Laura! How would that make Laura feel!

But I assure you we are still all very appreciative of gio and is 'ips' and dancing but we don't have to be a fan of his partnership with Laura! I didn't dislike it by a long way but a few other couple have grabbed me more!

I really felt for Laura last night, a samba was clearly not a good dance for her given that she has an ankle injury!!

hello, well, I joined this thread because of Giovanni and I appreciate him, he's a superb dancer and choreographer but, as I said before, I know I'm in the minority

anyway, on a more positive note, it's a lovely autumn day here and the colours of the leaves are beautiful, my favourite time of year

Good response. I'm sure there is a clip somewhere that I saw that showed what Laura was doing when he was doing his spins. I'm on the hunt to find it now.

this thread moves so fast now, I nearly missed your post, I'd love to have the chance to dance with a pro. maybe I should book a private lesson or two

Pixie was a good dancer but she and Trent were never my favourites, I just remember the outrage on the forum when they were voted out

Well, I think the forum as a whole is unimpressed with Gio at the moment. His intentions were good but he was far from subtle.

This thread appreciates Gio and wishes him well. Always has. We are not afraid though to be critical and offer different opinions, nicely done it's what makes the forum go round!

I appreciate Gio, he's my fav pro dancer. I always find my eyes drawn to him in all the group dancers. He's a fab dancer and choreographer. But I judge dance partnerships separately. Loved GG last year but there are couples I prefer more than Gio and Laura this year. Matt Cutler was my previous favourite and loved him with Alesha but not any of his other partnerships.

Hello everyone

Here is a pic of Gio being beautified yesterday.
Afton I think he is looking a little pale.
Are you putting enough tanner on to him???

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p04f96xm/p04f9535

I see he has just retweeted Laura with the video of last night's dance saying something like "I know you were still injured but did a great job" so it does sound as though she was having ankle issues during the performance.

By the way I would like to say that I also appreciate Gio's dancing very very much. I always have and I always will

Glad to see Georgia is back in London. I bet she loves being back although for a very short time. I can't believe she only has two weeks left in BAT !
Richard Meek has tweeted her to say it's not long until she joins the cast of Rocky Horror.

Don't read the MF then as you will be in tears

I think if you read carefully above you will see that most of us realised and appreciated that Gio 'over dances' to protect his partner - he did so twice last year while dancing with Georgia - in week one he gave her a full on jive which was almost impossible for someone who had no dance training - and he danced round her beautifully !
In the semi finals when Georgia had been ill and they were not able to train he danced a storm at the end of their Cha Cha :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_47MSC8Zfaw

The difference is that Georgia moved beautifully and seductively too - although she didn't do much Cha Cha,

Female professional dancers 'over-dance' all the time around their male celebs - it is almost par for the course,
They usually get away with it - Katya did last night for example.

No one who posts here regularly thinks that Gio is other than a terrific dancer - and usually a great choreographer - we have always thought so and probably don't need to keep saying so to each other - unlike some of his recent fans it has to be said
However we don't for the most part see the magic in the partnership with Laura unfortunately although there have been good dances the waltz and the tango were very good.

Gio at his best is spectacular ; the Strictly Prom dances for example were amazing :

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMSz6qvVZF4

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhh32p2TZoE

I suggest if you want to read full support go back and read the first two parts of this thread.

However liking a tweet suggesting that he took all the attention from Laura last night wasn't his wisest move given the criticism he is getting here on the MF and on Social Media and even in the 'Lavanni' Appreciation Thread.
Anyone who likes him would want to point that out to him !

Love it!!

That and the Charleston are the only GG dances I've managed to make myself watch, since the split

Yes, well, that doesn't fit in with the continuous picking on of this thread does it?
Same as someone made a jibe yesterday about someone's post - which was related to Gio as it was about his (and Laura's) score - not being related to the thread??
A quick read of the other app threads shows the busier ones discuss the show/other dances/scores, that don't relate to the celeb the app thread is for. I don't see anyone going in those threads and posting jibes.

At the end of the day, just because you appreciate someone doesn't mean you can't say anything slightly negative. Hell, we get accused of being biased half the time and soon as someone says something negative we get told off for that as well!

I don't think Gio helped Laura in last nights routine. Do I think it was deliberate? Of course not. Do I still think he's a fabulous dancer? Yes. I am not unappreciating him. Just giving my opinions - as are half the forum, who all seem to agree.

Think you'll find, if you read all of the thread, most posters are fans of Gio, myself included but are not blinded by the fact. I personally think Gio is a brilliant dancer and choreographer but if I don't like one of his dances I'll say. I'm not keen on the partnership with Laura, people I prefer more. I didn't like his dance last night for several reasons. There was a lot of similarities between this samba and the one he choreographed last year. I don't think Laura had enough 'dance steps" more a lot of posing and pouting, this may be because of her injury but I don't think she was 'showcased' enough and Gio was too much. It is supposed to be about the Celebrity not the pro? The routine was too fast for her and Gio, as the professional, should have known this. I also think Bruno is doing them no favours by constantly over marking them. Last night with a 9 when you consider that he gave Danny a 10. I sincerely hope Gio hasn't shot himself in the foot as, I said previously he's a brilliant dancer and choreographer and would like to see him in Strictly for years to come.

For someone new to the forum that has not really been obvious in recent days. I am a little curious why he has upset so many fans other than be partnered on Strictly with a friend of Georgia. That situation was not his fault or Laura.

I really like Gio too.

Pretty sure the spins and fabulousness were his attempt to help Laura's dance have impact. Samba came at a really hard time for her with her detachable foot problem, or whatever the precise medical condition is. The more I rewatch their samba though, the better what she was able to do looks. I feel he maybe distracted attention too much because she really wasn't as bad as some folk make out

I agree re Laura's samba. I have watched it a couple of times since the live show and it is better than I originally thought. Being a non dancer she looked better when she was with Gio but a bit anxious on her own. A common problem. A more experienced dancer like Danny for example does not have this problem.

I completely forgot Trollied starts Tomorrow!!
From the little clip in the trailer it looks like she'll be fab - this Holly looks like a great character to play too.

I hope she's had a relaxing Sunday off - she deserves it after all those shows and being poorly this week.

We were robbed, and in the cruelest possible manner in that the BBC actually said they were dancing to an AT for a couple of hours - so not only did it get us all massively excited but it also showed what fantastic music they would have had!

Maybe if Georgia ever does a Christmas special she can do an Argentine Tango with Kevin as he seemed very good at it last night!

Best Samba I've seen ever on Strictly by quite some considerable margin. The technique required to do that is phenomenal - really showcases what an amazing dancer Georgia is.

Well there's an eclectic range of dances in there - some chosen more for performance than technique though I think - Georgia, on the other hand, gave the ultimate performance with perfect technique in her Charleston!

Just terrible. I'll never forgive them for robbing us of an AT. If she had time to learn the Cha Cha then she had time to learn an AT

Or Gorka

Or maybe she can do one with Kevin and I'll do one with Gorka

Absolutely agree Star!! Also totally agree with patch and Sandy!!

I've only watched the samba and Charleston lately too- wanted to watch the American smooth about a week a go but I just couldn't do it

Finally caught up on strictly! I loved Ed and Katya

And YES I'm so please for Louise finally having a wow moment! Thoroughly deserved to be at he top!
Loved Danny's jive too, so fast and well he is just gorgeous 😍

Claudia and Aj were fab, really enjoyed their paso and thought a couple more 9's would have been nice!

I really enjoyed Daisy and Aljaz's lovely VW too hoping she gets a break tonight!

Everything's been said that needs to be said about Laura and gio- she clearly struggled with it and I really felt for her! I know what it's like to have an ankle injury and I can only imagine the impact any dance would have on it let alone a fast samba!

Rinder did really well too! He's certainly getting better each weeks - he's doing a Georgia isn't her where his scores would improve each week for a long period! I can't seeing him getting quite up to georgias level obviously but good on him!

Well done to Greg and Ore too! 👏👏

It really was a great show- the best one so far this series and there wasn't a bad dance! I also agree with everyone's placings on the leaderboard apart from Claudia and AJ
