Yes, I genuinely am.

Over the past year or so this place has been just the most wonderfully happy place for me ... I really mean it, every time I come on here it just brightens my day up no end. And that is down entirely to all the absolutely lovely people I've met on here - it has, genuinely, made my life so much happier (I don't know whether that sounds slightly strange! ) but it absolutely has!

To my mind, without doubt, the main reason, the fact Giovanni is able to tour around the country next year boils down to three words - Georgia May Foote.

Her dancing capabilities brought him to the final last year, raising his profile in the UK hugely, just as his relationship with her afterwards did (probably also helped by the fact that she always took time out in every interview to praise him).
Consider another scenario, he'd got a partner who simply couldn't dance last year - exited week 2, not really heard about until the following September ... and then out midway through the competition this series. I think it's quite plain that Giovanni would still have been very little known in the UK had it not been for Miss Foote - so I think there can be little doubt that she is the main reason why he has got the opportunity to tour around the UK next year.

Should he thank for it / tell her how grateful he is? NO, in my opinion. He's already shown just how thankful he is for all she has done for him by leading her all the way up the garden path, and then leaving her devastated by dumping her - to say anything now would be frankly insulting in my opinion. Giovanni's got his opportunity largely because of her, I believe, whereas his behaviour (in dumping her and leaving her devastated 3 weeks before her stage debut) could have completely and totally scuppered Georgia in her first foray into theatre ... had it not been for her determination, talent and immense strength of character. ”

She loved him. He loved her. The garden path has nothing to do with it. He realised his feelings had changed. He walked away. Happens every day. They were not the fairytale characters they portrayed on Strictly. This was in real life. Very few Strictly relationships last beyond a year once Strictly finishes.

So forgive me if anyone finds this offensive and I'm missing something big but I really don't understand the antipathy towards Giovanni which has developed in this once friendly fun thread. Once again, no offence- I'm genuinely not trying to be argumentative and I've resisted saying something before now. but it all just seems so sad that's all.

I still don't understand why people remain activated by a thing that's a) over and b) private to the people directly involved. But to come up with such bitterness (in the post you quoted) is a proper waste of energy.

No bitterness in my post at all, Dervla. You may not agree with what I said, but what I stated was my opinion which I believe I substantiated. It was said on the basis of evidence, not bitterness.

The only waste of energy IMO is maintaining a dislike of someone you could simply stop thinking about. *Pouf* All gone! Posting on the thread seems a good thing to do. There's a proper community here.

(It's why I'd be a really bad unappreciator. I can NEVER stay interested in the things that I don't love or that don't move me.)

Feelings can change. The time that takes is different for everyone. It can happen slowly over a period or something happens which causes it to happen quickly. You cannot control how you feel. You cannot make yourself love someone. He didn't choose to stop loving her. He just did.

Well of course, as you correctly state, all of what you say in your first sentence is your opinion. I'll always want to post my opinions (hopefully based on evidence) in the thread, the post which prompted you to describe me as 'bitter' was of course primarily focused on Georgia, and it's generally with her in mind that I write my posts on the thread.

Ed's leaving was horrible but it even made Craig nice for a bit...

The thing he said before the DO when he dropped his harsh judge act was touching. I love those bits where everyone seems honest instead of it being like a pantomime.

Yes. It's so much better when everyone is just themselves rather than playing up to the camera's to keep in their 'characters' or any BBC scripted rubbish.

Strictly will be a poorer show without Mr Balls that's for sure

I see Aldo Zilli has rushed to congratulate Gio on his tour - I am still convinced there is a PR tie up somewhere going on between these two.
Rather like some of these young female celebs push clothing lines etc Gio does favourable restaurant plugs !
You know a real Italian bought in to recommend real Italian food - one of the first pics of them together after they met on the Waitrose evening was of them both standing beside a catering range like they were advertising it - which I always thought was bizarre.
Since then Gio has visited Aldo's restaurants many times and never failed to name them and say how good they are and is always photographed - the last twice with Aliona.
Maybe he just gets free food and drink - which can't be bad !

Thank you very much for the Mills and Boon interpretation of other people's relationships - I find your completely unsubstantiated opinion on GG as completely silly as your views on 'Lavanni' which are based on your ability to ignore all the evidence to the contrary and dream up scenarios which appeal to you.

All the evidence needed for any sane person points to 'Lavanni' having not exactly hit it off - yet you have continued to insist they are very enamoured with each other based on your reading of their body language and a great deal of poetical licence.
