Mainly just at the start of the dance and when they'd finished.

I've got a couple of pics from the finale too, just off to a meeting but will post them later.

I only whipped my phone out at these 2 points so didn't get any of the other dances”

I love all of these wicks, thank you! I think you've taken them at exactly the right moments, and the colours on them really are particularly wonderful!

Actually there was a group of young girls who were waving frantically at him and he waved back. Don't know whether he knew them or whether he was just responding to their adoration!

Great pictures, Wicks. You must have had seats just above me. In fact you probably had a better view since my view was a bit blocked by the people in the arena. Still, as I said last night, at least I was close to the action.

Wow! If Georgia's being used to do BT ads that's quite a big deal for her! I wonder if it will be a TV, online or print ad? Life is really coming up roses for both of them!

Probably for the best for them that I couldn't reach out and touch them!!

No, Georgia was on the opposite side. In the last picture they are all waving at the Strictly production team who were cheering from one of the boxes

EDIT - at one point just before that, he was waving over the other side but it didn't look like he spotted Georgia specifically.

The only negative thing about last night - and Nina I'd be interested to see what you thought about this - is that the standing section in the middle was at least 1/2 empty.

As I understand it now (see link), although advance tickets were sold out, the standing area is always for people who queue up on the day - to go "promming". I guess that the traditional "prommers" would be too high brow for a Strictly Prom (meh to them I say!) and not many others would necessarily know about this. I felt it was a real shame it was so empty - and I hope it didn't disappoint the dancers etc - though it might not have been glaringly obvious from the stage as there were plenty of people standing at the front, and the stalls and balconies were full (though they did come in at the side at the beginning, as Nina said). And I hope it doesn't look weird on TV. There would have been room for of you to have come along and bought a very cheap ticket on the evening (not that that is much use to anyone now, after the fact!)

Why do people have to be so cruel Just because she is a celebrity doesn't mean she doesn't have feelings. Ugly and Georgia certainly don't belong in the same sentence

I think the Prom section is often a bit sparse - I watch the Proms throughout the season from time to time - I think you have to be quite hardy to stand throughout a concert.
Same as Shakespeare's Globe - I have stood through a couple of plays but realised a seat was the way to go !

Ah, that's good really, that that is often the case. I was just thinking that it might have been seen as a disappointment in some way, to the organisers, but it sounds like it's par for the course.

Bit in bold - yes indeed! For the waltz he wore a v similar outfit to his waltz with Georgia - grey trousers and waistcoat and cravat.

Yes I noticed that too. I wondered whether they put a limit on the number of prommers these days but looking at the recording of the first night of the Proms the arena looked quite full. I suppose a lot of those who stand in the arena are people, especially music students who come regularly every year and probably wouldn't be interested in Strictly (their loss). Anyway, unless you were at the front the prommers would not have had a very good view unless they were tall. For an ordinary concert it wouldn't matter so much but for this Prom it was obviously very important to see what was going on. Plus, it's quite hard standing for all that time looking up at the stage. The rest of the hall was all sold out according to the website although I did notice a couple of empty seats right round the side. I know they do have what they call debenture holders - people who own seats in perpetuity which gives them the right to come to all the concerts. Sometimes they release these seats for sale but not always.

However, Gio and the rest all looked delighted with the reception that they got and I doubt they noticed the lack of people in the arena! Also there have been loads of ecstatic tweets about how good it was so I don't thinks the producers will have been at all disappointed.

Anyway, I hope the BBC shows the whole thing tonight and they don't cut anything out.

Yes, that all makes sense Nina. They did get a rousing reception didn't they.

The programme tonight is scheduled for 2 hours so that should be the whole thing I think.

You're welcome Ruby, that has to be one of my all time favourite clips in SMDAE (I feel all trendy abbreviating! )

Anton has to be given a lot of credit for his choreography with Anne - so many comedic elements added in, no wonder she wasn't voted out until November! Saying that, I think Gio would've managed well with her as well, he's always able to create crowd pleasing dances so I'm sure he would've done the same with Anne.

sorry I don't take part in the quiz but it's interesting to read the answers to your questions which brings back great memories

so many things are abbreviated now, it took me a while to work out what OITNB was

yes, I agree with your comments about Anton and Anne, but there was outrage on the forum when she kept being voted back each week, I'm sure Gio would have got on well with her as he seems to be charming to everyone, whatever their age, I was actually amazed how well Aljaz and Alison got on .. we certainly saw another side to him

yes, I agree, and to think I'd never heard of him before Strictly last year, he's done so well and he's a real credit to Strictly, I'm proud of him too

the Royal Albert Hall is a lovely building and I remember seeing Michael Crawford perform there a few years ago and the Cirque de Soleil .... both fantastic shows

I think you're right Sandy. I fainted part way through a Proms concert once when I was standing and had to be attended to by the nice ladies from St John Ambulance. It was a very warm evening and it was very hot and still in the promenade area. As you say a seat is the thing to do.

To the first comment all I will say is that Georgia can hold her head up high and be very proud of herself. She is trying new things, getting new roles and other jobs like this one and yes, earning her living and what the blummin heck is wrong with that I ask!!! No matter what people do for a living I for one take my hat off to anyone who works and aims to do their best in life. Georgia is going to have the last laugh on that one!

To the second one oh yes Georgia is so ugly isn't she...................NOT!
Sorry but you have gotta laugh at that one!

Well I would have had no chance with OITNB - had to look it up online!

Gio does indeed seem to be charming to everyone. And I totally agree with your comments about Alison and Aljaz, they were a wonderful partnership, this dance being my favourite - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASsRDft7lJ8
He's had two outstanding partners in Helen and Abbey, but really did some fantastic routines with Allison!
