my fellow professionals who are on my social media are all busy either teaching, judging or dancing over the weekend but those who have posted and seen the show all loved it thought it was a great idea and how good the dancing was, all loved the staging which was excellent and of course the fab music - no particular favourites on the night they seem to love them all but most comments were for the paso, tango and the samba and all of them were impressed with the partnership of Gio and Jo - as many are promoters, can see them getting approached for demonstration work

Hi Korky don't take collaw to heart he likes to be shocking !

I am sure all the Jay fans who have bought tickets for Robin's show don't think of him as 'fodder' - many of them wouldn't be going to see the show if Jay wasn't part of it I am sure !
Jay is box office.

I am not sure how many other of the Strictly 'celebs' would bring in the crowds - I don't really think Lisa and Louis will do, but enough people enjoy dancing to fill the theatres.

Welcome to the thread - always nice to have visitors.

Fodder as in there not there solely for their dance ability alone
So you agree ,in a different way of saying same thing , me an honest man in the street speaks it as it is

bendy I have watched the Prom several times now and I am enjoying the dancing more and more as I take it all in, we rarely get the chance to see really first rate ballroom dancing.

Because I am a huge Fred and Ginger fan I particularly like the "Irving Berlin Medley' and absolutely love Jo and Gio in that section.
If both of them don't get good celeb partners this year I will go into a big sulk !

will be interesting to see who Jo and Gio are partnered with. They are a good partnership for each other - Jo a ballroom specialist and Gio a Latin one - although Jo was a British Latin Champion in junior with Kev it has took a back seat to her ballroom competitively in Adult - Have seen in this last year Jo's latin come right back to speed and she is on a par with any of the other Stricyly pros in this style now. I am sure Gio has also benefited from doing more ballroom too.

Loved all the staging of the show - Jason is so good at that, the Irving Berlin Medley was excellent

thank you so much Brian for collating the reports. I have spent the last couple of days reading them through and thoroughly enjoyed it, I now have to rewatch the videos again as I feel I missed so much. I also enjoy the quiz questions you put up I am very impressed that some of you know so much about each one. I thought I had watched them a lot but you guys are unbelieveable with how much you know.
Special thanks to Star for her reports, she certainly has a way with
words, especially her description of the rumba in the final

I was able to watch the Proms on Friday as I have an app on my laptop that shows some English programmes and luckily BBC4 is one of them. Their tango was absolutely breathtaking, I hope it comes up on YT so that I can watch it again.

Jay is box office indeed, a level of support unprecedented in my time watching Strictly!

Most welcome, so glad you enjoyed reading them.
If I remember rightly, the language Star used to describe the Rumba in her final report was somewhat toned down from how she had previously described it! Always a joy to read though!

Edit: Having just read it back, I take back what I said ... only very slightly toned down from what had previously been written!

Very interesting to read your expert opinion, Bendy. I thought Jo was terrific on Thursday - not just because she's such a beautiful dancer but also because she injects such drama and storytelling into her dances. Her acting ability really shone through. I loved the way she went from wistful lover to cheeky flapper to fierce man-eater!

I'm sure that after this and her success in the Norma Jeane Musical she will have offers coming from all sides and I wonder if it will be difficult for her to chose what to do. Will she stay with Strictly and partnering Gio for one off events for a few more years or will she perhaps go into musical theatre, hopefully in the West End? Maybe she could manage to do both. I sure Gio would miss her if she managed to snare a long run in a West End show since I'm sure there is no other pro partner with whom he has such a special bond.

I'm just glad I had recorded the prom. It all went too quickly on the night so I am glad I can look back on it again (and again!). I thought Kevin and Karen got the showiest numbers and the biggest response from the audience. I wasn't so keen on their Paso mainly because I didn't particularly like the music. However, who could not like the samba, especially to such traditional music? I also loved the charleston and ....... oh let's face it I loved it all! However, my favourite numbers as you may have guessed from the above, were Gio and Jo's waltz and tango. Beautiful music, wonderful dancing and choreography and great drama and storytelling.
