I have just watched the Prom on iPlayer yet again - I just absolutely love it !

Something I just have to say is - what on God's Earth is Kevin's hair all about ?
In the finale it is absolutely bizarre.
He just has to sort it out before Strictly starts.

The other thing that concerns me about Strictly this year is that two male pro dancers are not coming back but only one new one has been named !
Three women pro dancers are not coming back but only two new ones have been named.
So by my calculation there are now only 14 pro dancers at the moment and for the last two years at least there have been 15 celebs.

Are there going to be less celebs than last year ?
Or are they still looking for another male pro to replace Gleb ?

Nina I was thinking GG were quiet and I am speculating they have gone to Sicily.
Didn't she say something about having to "organise" her life the other day? She could have meant packing for a leetle trip?!
However I always speculate that they have gone to Sicily whenever they are quiet for more than a few hours haha. I think this is their last chance to go for a few days if Gio is starting rehearsals next week. Next week - eek! Can't believe strictly is nearly upon us again.
I am fully expecting that now I have said I think they have gone away that we will now get a tweet from Georgia in her back garden - which is usually what happens.

I totally agree about Kevin's hair, it looks like it's been in rollers. Is he trying to grow it and is in that difficult in-between stage? Never seen him dance like that though, he's amazing.

I'm fairly sure that there are two more pro's to be announced, there was a line about it on the pro announcement. Saw a post from the insider that one male and one female to be announced, both Brits. There's lots of presumption that the male is Neil Jones but could the female be Korina thingy??? That'd be a big break for someone so young though I did wonder if Gio referring to Jo as his ' best partner ever' or wtte would pee her off a bit!!

Do you think that they would take Korina on as a pro given her young age?
I am not a dance expert so I have no clue what so ever about these things but surely taking on Strictly as a Pro is a massive leap for a young professional. I would have thought you need a little more experience behind you if you a teaching new routines to a novice as well as dealing with all of the other pressures and demands of the show?
Still maybe age is irrelevant if you can show that you have the capability for doing the job

I suppose that there's a lot of help avalable to the pro's now what with the choreography team etc. I suggested Korina because I spotted an insider post (yes another one) a while back saying that she'd impressed at the auditions. What with all the help available I suppose that they don't have to be choosy by dance experience and can go for personality etc.
Janette's lack of ballroom and latin training has been highlighted loads but she manages fine.

Kevin's hair is not a good look at the moment but I'd never go as far as tweeting Karen. However, if it was Mr PB, a word would be had! Judging by his love of a bit of eyeliner I think he may be a bit goth/emo maybe he's just indulging that while he can. If he follows his dad he'll be bald in a few years so enjoy while you can Kev!!

I could well be wrong but I am sure Bendy said that she thought Korina was not experienced enough to be a Strictly Pro.
But maybe that 'insider' knew something about the auditions.

She must be well known in that world as Gio has used her as a partner when Jo wasn't available.

Because I have never really followed Strictly at all that deeply in the past (Just watched it while it was on each year and caught ITT if and when I was around) I didn't know Janette wasn't experienced in Latin and Ballroom - but watching the Proms I can see how much better she was in their rumba which was more like Modern Dance.
Of the six dancers in that Prom performance I was least impressed with her until the rumba saved the day.

Surely it depends on how many celebs they are going to have. They always seem to have more trouble attracting male celebs so maybe they will stick to 8 male pros and the current 7 female pros. I read somewhere that they might be keeping places open for Olympians of either gender. So many they will take on a new male and female pro and keep the one not needed as a spare. I wouldn't think they will go to 16 celebs since that would mean they would be finishing around Christmas unless they have a double elimination sometime.


I think Kevin should definitely sort his hair out before Strictly starts! I found it a bit distracting watching his paso last thursday and it almost looked as if he had some sort of a toupee on. Mind you it's looked a bit odd for a while now!

Yes, that's what I thought, They currently have the same number of female pros who will have partners as last year - as Jo is back with a partner. But if they follow the recent pattern of 15 celebs - then they will probably try to get another male celeb - so would need 8 female pros so will need an extra one, but would probably want to balance that out with an extra male pro for the group dances. It does look very likely that Neil Jones could be involved. When his wife was announced as a pro, he tweeted that he was in talks with the producers to be involved in some way. Whether it's just like he did last year (he was a backing dancer, eg in GG's AS) and did some choreography (the wartime dance and the nightclub one, I believe) or whether he gets a beefed up "spare" pro role like Jo did, or whether he ends up getting a celeb (as you say Nina, they might be waiting to see what Olympians they can snag), I'd bet he'll be involved in some way. Only trouble is he, like Gorka doesn't seem to be very tall. I would have thought they'd want some taller ones to replace Gleb and Tristan.

But either way, if they want 15 celebs, i think there's another female pro to be announced. Could be Korina Travis. Interesting that she apparently auditioned and impressed. I too wondered if she was too young but I guess she's only the same age as someone like Ola when she first joined. I don't really know anything about her, other than that she dances with Gio sometimes when Jo isn't available. Might be handy if Jo does go into musical theatre. It seems like she's friendly with them all as she was pictured having dinner with Gio, Georgia and Jo.

The insider who posted a few weeks ago did say that there are 2 pros still be announced and both are British. Maybe there are 2 lined up but they are waiting to see whether they sign up a male or female Olympian before they announce which of the new pros is a "full pro" with a partner, and which is the spare, as it were.

Re Kev's hair. I quite like it on him longer in every day life, but the trouble is, when he's dancing, he has to hair spray it to keep it in place and then, I agree Nina, it looks distractingly bouffant/helmet like! Yikes!

Re the group dances, don't forget that Anton doesn't take part in them all and that the pro's rotated around last year so that they all got a week off (if they weren't still in the competition). So, they wouldn't necessarily need the same amount of male/female pro's. Oh, it's all so confusing!!

Kev loves long hair when he competed he had long hair and on BTF he had long hair and yes he is a bit of a goth too and think he just grows it in between scd series - if he gets it cut he will wait for the beeb hairdresser to do it - gets a better cut from long hopefully they will not dye Joanne's natural blonde hair which I think was crime as three blondes have gone she will be ok now

I have heard one more professional to be added (male) personnally do not think a new female would be Korina - there was also rumour of some dancers for a troupe but nothing concrete on that so far

Just saw something today thought it might be of interest regarding Robin Windsor's show, National Holidays are advertising it in their brochure for £99 for bed and breakfast and dinner and overnight stay for afternoon performance on Nov 5th in Liverpool thought that was quite reasonable
I haven't been on much but been reading every day to keep up with you all. Words can not describe the Friday night at the Proms I sent his mum the bbc iplayer version of the whole thing ,neither of us speak the others language but she has shown her delight with Grazie and an animal with a beating heart which I took as she was pleased to get it.
The heat got to me last week and it didn't help having a cumbersome pot(CAST PLASTER )or whatever you call it on my leg but hey ho had it off today so am free . Its still abit sore but it will take a few days to get it going again, I have to have physio next week so that will be fun,thanks to everyone who keep this thread going even at slow times ,and if I am not always contributing I am watching
