Anyone want to apply for tickets to the launch show? I'm not up for it - I find it really hard to watch the pairings up live on TV, let alone in person - and that's when I'm not even invested in the fate of any particular pro! (In any event, I'm super paranoid about this 17 pros thing - and that not all of them will get partners, a la Jo last year. Gio not tweeting about the new pros has got me worried!)

The word troupe in this case is used as a means to describe Pros who will not have a celebrity, but in no way it would be anything like they have in the DWTS series.

The search for celebrities begings a year prior but negotiations or the ability to get the ones producers want takes a very long time and sometimes right before the launch of the series, which means the number of pro/pros without a celibrity may right now be in the air.

Those pros/pro with no celebrities will be part of the "troupe" and be part of the group numbers together with the regulars, as it was Joanne's case last year. There was talk of maybe doing something different in this regard but is not clear as to what that may be.


So, it sounds like nothing is set in stone at the moment and that even the insider doesn't know exactly how it's going to work.

Joanne's spell on the bench last year worked really well for her, did her no harm at all in fact. Maybe a troupe like role (with loads of ITT exposure) would suit someone who wants to become more of a 'personality' Hmmmmm...

I know it wouldn't do Giovanni any harm not to have a partner this year but I would be very shocked if he didn't. He is such a good dancer, personality and great teacher that I think it would be a shame if he couldn't continue to shine in that role. Unless of course this is not what he wants.
It would definitely affect my enjoyment of strictly if I only saw him in Pro dances.
As "the insider" says though it all seems "up in the air" at the moment so I am not too concerned yet!
