We have been through all this once - Holly being a drug addict, Moira locking her in her room to go cold turkey, Holly being 'cured' and going off into the sunset. Why have they revisited this storyline?

I for one find it an interesting story - and the affect that it is having on the people around her makes it so. There's different characters who have been affected by her actions this time so it's something similar but new. |

Because most drug addicts relapse at some point or other.

I only think Hollys good at acting a drug addict and when she does all the crying. When she's just her normal sweet Holly, she doesn't come across as a good actress to me. Tonight's episode where Moira lost it was amazing acting between them. They both totally nailed it. I liked her scene with Jai too on the bench.

Fantastic scenes, and great acting from both - especially Natalie J Robb. It's great to see her actually get to do some acting and I'm glad they've brought Holly back, even if it's just to see stuff like this.

It's puzzling that they've just rehashed a storyline from five years (which I did enjoy, and am enjoying now, despite Sophie Powles' acting skills). I think there's gonna be more to it though. Didn't the producers say Cain and Moira would face heartache later on in the year? I think Cain will hook up with Charity and Holly will die, leaving him with quite the dilemma concerning Moira. |

Awful character, best thing she could do would be to do everyone a favour and take herself on a one way trip to the cemetary. She's a useless waster and has no intentions of improving or changing so if she wants to be found rotting away dead in a ditch somewhere Moira should save herself a lot of stress and just bloody let her

I thought Natalie J Robb was very good tonight, and I do think that this storyline is an important one, however I have to admit that I'm sick to the back teeth of Holly crying and whining, even if that's the only time I find Sophie Powles particularly convincing.

Tonight's scenes were fantastic. I thought I remembered her being a good actress last time around and I was proven right tonight. She's improved since she returned to the role I think after the initial settling in.
She does come across as a bit wooden and plain in everyday scenes though with that blank facial expression. I always find it a harsh contrast compared to Adam who's much more full of life. Natalie J Robb was excellent too. |

The actress who plays Moira seemed to be enjoying that shove just a little bit too much
good scenes spoiled by the young girl's inability to act.

I agree, she really is brilliant just hasn't had much time to shine lately, totally believable. I also don't get all this stuff about Holly being a bad actress, I didn't see her the first time round as I didn't watch then, but I think she's been quite good and convincing so far, not just in the drug related scenes but with other stuff, too, namely when she lost Kyle.
Others just don't find her to a convincing actress, which is fine, but I do think that she gets a lot more stick than others who are much less convincing than she. Quote:

I posted this on a Moira reaction thread but I think it will be relevant here also, so re posting
![]() It's a difficult situation. I did actually (for once) almost feel sympathy for Holly- for her to open up to her Mum and admit she is an addict that needs help is a massive step! Unfortunately my own Brother went through this in his life, for years and years, stealing, lying, cheating, hurting his family members to fund his habit, he became estranged from us for many years as he lived the most awful life style- when they are in the throws of such addiction compulsive lying is like breathing for them, My brother would argue black was white, you could literally catch him in the act (of stealing from the house) and he would deny it. I've seen a lot of my brothers former ways in Holly, so for Holly to actually say- I'm using, help me or I will die is a massive step! She may not have got the reaction from Moira she wanted but the last few episodes I have seen a change in Holly- a realisation that she can't go on like this. She poured the heroin down the sink herself, no one forced her. Last time she was like this, John and Moira literally forced her to get clean- locking her up, pouring her drugs away, yes she got better (temporarily) But I feel this time is more significant as she is trying to make the steps on her own. Moira's reaction was, unfortunate, I totally understand though, you do reach a breaking point in these situation and you can just snap. Moira will come round and give Holly the support she needs. I would genuinely like to see Holly beat her addiction and build up some kind of life for herself. As I mentioned my Brother, I will just add that he is now doing very well in life He has been clean for many, many years now and has managed to settle down and raise a family- he now has two beautiful daughters! Granted he still struggles with dealing with how he lived his life for such a long time, but he is worlds away from all that now! People really can overcome it! |

A family member has had a drug addiction since they were 15/16 now there 26, was hidden for a lonng time, and the effects it's had on my family is quite bad, stealing, selling, lieing, violence, with it all leading to my depression, and causing so much stress and agro for my family and myself.
So to me I find it very realistic, and I'd love a soap to have a character we've watched grew up and have a Long term drug addiction, because to me soaps just are not realistic, they are clean within days. It's a long long process, and holly has been one of the most realistic stories, I just hope we get long term use out of this. @Ancalagon this is what happened, and I'm so glad your brother is doing well. |

I can't buy into Holly at all. She's a miserable, lying rat. The actress is rotten into the bargain. She's acted off the screen in almost every scene she's in. An utterly pointless return.

Locking her away in her room isn't the answer. Moira is still living in the 1930s.
