Waterloo Road (Discussion Thread)
I started a thread a while ago, not sure what happened to it as when I search it doesn't appear
Anyway, a discussion thread for those that watched this school based drama. I'm watching It back (on Series 6) and one thing that's occured to me is the number of characters that go missing without an explanation (Jo Lipsett, Steph Haydock, Jasmine Koreshi, Candice to name a few) and the amount of retcons I beleive they are called (characters ages changing, in different year groups for e.g) , so many plot holes as well. I still love it though!

Loved it when it first started, went downhill after they moved to Scotland, but towards the end, it seemed to be getting better again, so shame it finished.

I thought it was great for the first few seasons but I stopped watching a little while after it went to Scotland because it went downhill.

Really miss this show! I still enjoyed it. The move to Scotland was definitely unnecessary though, but there were still some great episodes.

What were people's favourite characters? Mine were:
(No Particular order, except from Steph )Steph Grantly Chlo Donte Mika Tom Philip Ros Rachel Rose Sam Izzy Chris Probably more, but I can't think of them atm. It's hard to find many of the pupils likable from Series 5 onwards because they changed a lot of the characters personalities. |

FULL episodes are available, in fact ALL episodes in full are there.
Don't forget to watch the Waterloo Road Reunited episodes as well. Me and my friend just finished watching it. It should have been a Holby City type of show were it just carried on. It felt like a real school with the turn over of actors. Tom Clarkson's exit marked the end for me as I knew Grantly Budgeon would also be leaving. How they could kill off 2 originals in such a short space of time (regardless of the break in between) was 2 fingers up to the long term viewers. Moving to Scotland was awful. One thing I hated was the lack of male or female villain in the show long term wise. I would have been nice to have the complete opposite of Tom stalking the corridors. I wish Jason Done was on one of the soaps. |

It was more unrealistic that all of the current soaps put together and required a huge suspension of disbelief,
but I absolutely loved it and there were some great storylines and characters during it's time.

Wish i had watched it. But when Waterloo road began, I went through a phase when i didn't like soaps and never really watched a lot of television. One day, i would like to check it out when i have the time for a big commitment.
It would be nice if the BBC commissioned another weekly soap similar to waterloo road. In a different setting of course. |

I loved WR and still miss it now! It wasn't the same after they killed Tom Clarkson off and Grantley then I knew it just wouldn't be the same. I loved the earlier episodes with Jill Halfpenny in and Chlo and Mika. I quite liked when Steph looked after the girl who was best friends with Janeece who later got shot. It showed a different side to Steph. I struggled warming to the newer characters especially the Barry family.

![]() I've always said that I think It was a mistake killing off Tom, he, like Grantly was an original character and should have been written out by just leaving the school, but oh no that's no sensationalist enough! I liked the earlier episodes too the likes of Brett, Chlo, Mika etc were my favourite characters and I also liked Jill Halfpenny as Izzie, her death scene was so sad. ![]() Steph was definitely my favourite character overall though, she had some great lines and really added something to the show. Maxine, was the girl that was shot by Earl Kelly. I wasn't keen on the Barry's either, It felt like they were trying to replace the successful Barry family, but It didn't work. |
