I have just been on the phone to know how and they want to see what the problems are
I have already phoned trading standards who say this is way OTT and the set is not of merchantable quality. So what do others think? The invalid service message can happen any where as can the insert CI Module
if the faults caan't be seen at the repair center then how on earth can I get refund/replacement Know how seems to be dragging this out intead of saying we will write the set off etc. TIA

Take pictures of these on screen messages when they appear and also note down what you were doing just before they appeared.

Thanks for the tip but its a lot of mithering about as the faults are intermittent! i have decided what i am going to do they can pick the set up from a local branch of Pc World I will go to the branch and get a refund they may say why have you left it so long easy!
cause Know How lost my original details and i had to resubmit my faults etc over the phone again and wait for a loan set iam thinking of going to Sainsbury's and have seen a Ceilus 43" Tv for £200 never hard of this brand are they any good?? TIA

Celcus is another brand made by Vestel like your JVC was. It's sold exclusively in Sainsbury's.

I bought a cheap TV from AO.COM in April as I was moving into a new flat and money was tight it was a 40" Seiki and cost £200 and lesson was learned ,after around the 1st couple of months I realised you get what you pay for as remote was clunky and slow , picture was not good and it eventually kept turning itself off. I phoned up AO.COM last Friday to arrange a replacement , I decided to put £160 more towards an LG 43" Smart TV, next day AO.COM took away the Seiki and gave me a fabulous L.G .I have learned my lesson and will stick to a brand name from now on , you really do get what you pay for.I also own a 32" Panasonic which is 3 years old and is brilliant and I have gifted to a friend an 8 year old 42" Samsung that is still performing superbly.I would have kept it but it wouldn't fit into the cabinet in my new flat .Superb after sales service from AO.COM who were willing to do a straight swap for another Seiki and no mention of repairs etc but I told them I'd rather pay a little bit more for a known brand.

The two Korean brands Samsung and LG are now great value and out perform Panasonic and Sony a lot of the time. You can't really go wrong with one of these four brands (except Vestel-made Panasonics) and Samsung seem the brand of choice in most of my friends' houses these days. Previously, I would've avoided Samsung as they went through a bad phase about ten years ago but I know so many people now who have bought one for not much more than the price of a Vestel and are very happy with them.

Update: Over 4 days I have called knowHow and they said they would email the store for me and the manager of that store would get back to me well they haven't GRRRR Today I have had a text from Know How saying your product will be redilvered some time today??? What Bloody product They can't even get that right. Head office of Pc World can't be contacted by phone either unless some one does have a number for them?? TIA

Only in imagination - generally Sony/Panasonic are a better picture, and considerably more reliable.

But LG/Samsung are solidly in 3rd and 4th place - with everything else far behind.

At the moment the better picture becomes a little awkward when you start digging into HDR televisions and the UHD alliance premium HDR picture standard and TV models capable of meeting this standard, all 2016 LG OLED models and Samsung SUHD meet this standard and only one Panasonic model and possibly only one Sony model meets this standard.

Hopefully when I come to probably getting a 4K HDR TV next year multiple Sony models will meet this standard as I would prefer to get a Sony TV than an LG/Samsung one.

I suspect the advantages of HDR are VASTLY exaggerated, and obviously will require HDR programming to gain any advantage at all.

I see little point in buying a 4K TV at all, and certainly not at all in the immediate future - do you really want to watch TV from incredibly close to the screen?. There seems little or no improvement with 4K over HD at any remotely sensible viewing distance, and I cant see as HDR will make any worthwhile difference.

I've now fitted two LG OLED sets, they didn't look any better than LED/LCD sets?, and I absolutely hated the stupid 'magic' remote

You could be right, having seen the in store demos of HDR while the bright flash from the light house beam might be impressive the jury is out as to whether I want it at home. I soon noticed that like previous HD/SD and even SVHS/VHS demos, the picture quality on the "normal" side of the split screen was rather poor.

The split screen demos are completely useless - they make one half deliberately good, and the other half deliberately poor, so it's a useless comparison.

Ok found it but is it the number for the head office of PC World? One could argue and say dixons is part of Pc World but is it? I have been on the phone again for another 30 mins and another email has been sent to the store but they aren't gettig back to me! Thanks again Chris

PC World and Currys are trading names of Dixons. So PC World is part of Dixons not the other way round. Dixons have owned PC World for over 20 years.

What do you expect if you get through to "Head Office" ?

Who are you expecting to talk to?

Reality check time for you - and I'll declare knowledge having worked in a couple of retail HQs - the Customer Service team are the customer facing Head Office function. You won't get through to the MD or Marketing Director whatever you may think.

So, whether you like it or not you will be dealing with the customer service team. My advice is to deal with them sensibly, keep it factual, don't make unrealistic demands etc.

I notice you claim to have spoken to Trading Standards - were they prepared to pursue your complaint?

Yes I know I won't get through to the MD/CEO And I am not making unrealistic demands How ever Iam entitled to either a refund/replacement as per my conversation with Trading Standards ( I had a idea that I could do this) it's been repaired twice and no improvement what so ever. Trading Standards will only get involved once I have written to Pc World Head Office which I am not prepared to do as I have been waiting since march of this year for this to be sorted.

Correction: you're not entitled to a refund or exchange, you're entitled to make a claim for one. A common miscinception is entitlement to certain things which is wrong. If you had bought the set and it was faulty at day 1 there would be no dispute, but the entitlement to exchanges or refunds alters as time passes.

The fact you're not prepared to put things in writing, yet I suspect that's what Trading Standards have suggested you do, raises questions about the validity of your complaint.

Out of interest, when did you buy the set? You've never mentioned the original purchase date.

Well Pc world should do something about this for me? The date was 11/12/15 yes I know it's a while back but I have definate faults on this tv and when i originaly enquired about the repair they said it would be quite quick well it wasn't and when I asked again a few weeks later i was told they have had lost my all my details so had to go through everything again GRR they offered me a £ 20 store voucher not good enough so I am stuck with a crappy tv!
