You only need to think back two years for a blatant example of that happening.

Say it softly, but England 1966 didn't exactly get a raw deal. It was ever thus.

Never a penalty for me.

He stuck his hand up in the air and blocked the ball. A penalty's the correct decision imo.

Remember South Korea when they jointly hosted the World Cup with Japan in 2002?

It's because the refs cack themselves about giving a big decision in a ground where it's going to be incredibly unpopular.

Fascinating game of football. Germany dominating the ball and French defence awful - Pogba needs to be a lot better helping out defensively to justify the purported £100 million United are willing to spend on him.

But French attack looks very strong and thanks to a terrible refereeing decision they have the lead. Second half will be brilliant.

Can you let all refs know as so many have not given penalties for the same thing!!

he was blocking the elbow coming in. Not one french player appealed, nobody knew what was happening.

A really very poor decision, the ref has ignored lots of french fouls in the box too - hence him giving the impression of a cheat.

Exactly. The Brazil team was mediocre and shouldn't have got as far as they did, ultimately getting mullered by the Germans.

The semi in 1982 still the most dramatic game I have ever watched

The extra time was the most exciting extra time ever

Didn't expect France to be so poor when out of possession. For a £100m-rated central midfielder, Pogba's been a liability in any kind of defensive capacity. I can't believe Kante wasn't brought straight back in.

But they're ahead thanks to a harsh penalty decision. Those outraged should watch the 1982 World Cup the between the two - I see BBC are just showing it...

Alas there are some here that are not quite old enough to have been alive for that match!

The Italy game was one thing, but what happened against Spain.

Is it Dan Walker being very tall or Raphael Honigstein being very short?

The most exciting European Championship match was for me in 2000, Spain v Yugoslavia.

Rafael Honigstein's punditry is on a different level to the BBC pundits. Good points in less than a minute.
