I'm leaning towards that being a penalty, but WTF are experienced German players doing with their hands up in the air and giving away soft penalties?

Beyond the first 10 minutes, that was near total German domination. Either way its been a great game to watch and this isn't over.

Is it Dan Walker being very tall or Raphael Honigstein being very short?
Dan Walker is pretty tall if memory serves right.

France v Portugal another classic semi for those around at the time.

John Motson going ballistic on the commentary

Do you think that the 'handball' was in the French penalty area, it would have been given?

I don't think so!

The more I see that penalty the more I think the referee got it right.

Certainly not worth the hysterical outrage from certain posters anyway.

That's the thing for me.
It's the giving of a decision at one end but blatantly ignoring several incidents at the other end.

Good start by the French here at the start of the second half.

They have nothing to worry about the refs in their pocket!

Take players out, foul as much as you want and generally disregard the rules as nothing will happen!

Just got in. So was it not a penalty then? Is Operation Get the Hosts As Far as Possible in the Tournament underway?

I think the penalty decision could have gone either way. But Schweinsteiger can't have any complaints, there was no need for him to be throwing out his hand like that. From the referee's position it probably looked hand-to-ball.
As others have said, Pogba needs to stand up and be counted, he's been very poor so far in this game. Although, he's probably wasted playing in the pivot, it doesn't look his most comfortable role ?
