My main concern is that if people know that their top and bottom hms will still get the same number of points regardless how many other hms they list - then there will be people who will take the easy way out, yes it is time consuming to do a full list and so i understand why not everyone will wish to, but when i first discovered this poll, my first thought was - god do i really have to do all the hms? (and this was a good few years back so there were a lot less then, there is now!), i really didn't want to but what made me decide to do so was when i read the part that said, that if you dont do a full list you dont get full points ! That in a nutshell is why i always have and always will do a full list, and support this format. For me if the rules were changed, i fear that what you will get is MORE incomplete lists when people realise they dont need to, if they are only concerned about making sure their favs get the most and least favs the least. Indeed, even this year several people have admitted that a large part of their list was random, as they only properly listed the top and bottom few and didnt care about the rest and only did a full list to get max points! I dont want to see a poll made up of a large number of reduced lists and so a huge body of hms given the same points in the middle every time, because that is what will happen and how would that improve things?
What it comes down to me is this -
As i have said before, this poll is based on what you do post not what you dont, so why should any hm be awarded any point if they arent even listed ?? The argument put forward that the bottom hms are therefore actually given more than the non listed hms for me is not relevant as for me, as i believe the adage "you have to be in it - to win it" applies. if your not in it you dont count, if you are listed then you are entitled to at least one point but if you arent then you should not be entitled to anything! The poll is about your opinion, so if you dont express an opinion, i.e dont list someone, then you are not giving them any points and so thats why points should only be given to those who are listed and not to those who are not.
