One problem with changing the voting system is that, this is a very statistics driven poll with a lot of analysis vs. previous years' polls. If the voting system is radically changed then that comparison no longer works properly.
I don't think it would be right to change the voting system after the voting has finished so any such change would need to be for next year anyway. Statistics aside, I think Veri's system could work but I wouldn't want to see it turn into a lot of people just listing a top 1 or a top 10 out of laziness. I think there'd need to be a minimum number of entries imposed to try to discourage that. I think if we can maintain the numbers - and there was quite a surge of votes following Yohinchild's initial concerns - then I'd prefer to keep to the traditional method we've always used. This poll is something of a tradition, after all, and it would be a shame to mess with that, IMO. |

here is a direct comparison of the number of voters last year to this
2015 = 63 2016 = 51 so shortfall of 12, its worth pointing out that at least 3 of those "missing" this time are in fact banned so it may not be as bad as that. Although of course you dont know if they werent banned if they would in fact have voted, they may not have anyway of course. |

Some people may have sent their rankings in via PM, so we may have had more than a total of 51 rankings.

I've never had any votes by pm and wouldn't accept any votes by PM either as all the votes should be transparent and posted for all to see

People submit partial lists because they didn't watch some series. Reserved's list above only has BB1-3 housemates, presumably because those are the only shows they watched. 36 would be a pretty high-scoring position for a housemates that is least liked.
If you only include full lists then you are only going to get votes from those who have stuck with the show from the first series till the latest. A diminishing number of lists year on year. I'd be far more inclined to complete my list if the show wasn't currently such crap. I've completely fallen out of love with it throughout the C5 era and so none of the housemates make me excited or passionate enough for me to want to create a full list. Wasn't going to take part at all this year as my interest in the show is at an all time low, but wanted to show my support in some way to the OP as this thread has been around for years and it'd be a shame to see it go the way The X Factor one went. My list was pretty pathetic, but hopefully the gesture was there

I've watched all of C4's Big Brother's. I've been less than consistent with C5's version - in fact the only one that's held my attention from start to finish is series 14.

Can you please post a link to the results thread on this thread (once it's up)? I don't go into the BB forum much, I just go directly to my Subscribed Threads link so I may miss it otherwise. |

No need to apologise, it doesnt matter how many you listed, thats entirely up to you, all lists are welcome, whatever the size. Hope my part in the discussion above hasnt suggested i may hold an alternate view, if you have read back do you have any opinion as someone who didnt post a full list on the format ?
Knowing my favourites only get more points if I spend more time on my list seems fair enough, to me. That list took me, what, about five minutes? Kate doesn't deserve maximum points (or a set amount, depending on what rules were in place) when I'm not willing to put the effort in. If I was desperate for her to do well, it's on me to give her a boost by completing the list. I think the current system is motivational. If I was a full time watcher, I'd definitely have done a full list to ensure my top 10/20 gain an advantage, but as I said in my previous post, I've only really dipped in and out since C5 took over, which means ranking about a third of the housemates I have no real opinion of - which I find quite tedious. Kate really only deserves 36 points from me and no more because it only took five minutes of my time. Having any other type of system in place surely just encourages people to submit incomplete lists (which is fine, obviously, I did it myself, but without those who are willing to complete full lists, we don't have much of a competition, do we?) It's a bit of a catch-22 situation though because the more housemates that need to be ranked, the more daunting and overwhelming it becomes for any newbies wanting to submit a list. It's okay for regulars, they can copy and paste their previous list, glance through it and make a few changes along the way, not so easy for new posters, so I do feel that it may benefit from some kind of rule change that entices new posters to get involved. I enjoy it the way it is; but I'm not the host and if rules need to be changed/tweaked, then that's understandable, but it would be a bit of shame as you wouldn't really be able to compare the results of the previous years if the format now changes. |

The fact that next year I need to rank around 320 Hms seems like an impossible task especially as I'd have to write down all ~320 names in full, even without thinking of where I want to place them, it would take hours for me to write down that many names all in one go without getting migraine. I know you don't do CBB ones, but I reckon i'd give that one a go.... there's 208 of them to rank though, but i reckon i could do it if I had a full day to do it.

Exactly this for me. I have watched since BB2, but I have never posted a full list. Kind of wish I had started to submit full lists prior to C5 when there was around 150 to rank. And then as you said with regulars, add in the new series HMs and it's easier.

ah... Now I feel I should Include the list mainly as more votes are always better and also the amount of time gone into making the lists.
As you've posted it I'll accept the vote - I feel more votes is better than obeying a time limit on open votes ![]() Apologies if that annoys anyone - but more votes is a better sample and if anyone else has gone to the trouble of a list then post it and I'll include it. |

Obviously you must make your own decision, and I've no problem with bluegroper being able to submit a list, but when he said a lot of thought had gone into his list he was joking. ![]() bluegroper's list is just an exact copy and paste of Barracute's list ![]() After I'd quoted Aisleyne's place he went back and edited to swap Helen and Aisleyne round, but that's the only difference. |
