Who owns the land, would any intruders be trespassing? And if anyone turns up, would there be anyone (from the production crew) that could realistically stop them before they walk into the camp? I've no idea what the set up is, does anyone know approximately how big an area they have? I presume there's no fence around the perimeter.

so many questions...
If you back through the thread you will see that there has been a planning application and temporary removal of the Right to Roam on the land (can't remember the formal name). They will give the name of the estate that owns the land. There seems to be a £1000 fine for most breaches of the access laws. They give the size of the area and have a map, one of the things in the planning application was a fence. It's all further back up the thread.

Bad news people, according to a Telegraph article dated 4th September, eight of the twenty three inhabitants have left and there is no word on Channel 4 renewing the show for a second series with the production company. And by that I mean, showing anymore episodes.

Looks like it is over.

Can't say I am surprised. It is a difficult project to predict how it would pan out but people leaving is somewhat predictable.

Well true, especially given their selection of twenty-something individualistic and disturbing selfish gap year types.

Still no news or trailers for the second slab of episodes. Looks like the papers were accurate for once that a third of them legged it and the one's that have remained won't allow any of them to return.

Surely that would make good tv though?

I'd have thought so. Okay, it might not last the full year but C4 surely owe viewers some kind of follow-up / resolution even if it's just an episode or two.

It was supposed to be a experiment. Not all experiments succeed or last the course, so there's not necessarily any face loss or embarrassment involved and perhaps there's lessons to be learnt and they could try again?

I think its big failure was that there wasn't a real cross section of society.

That, coupled with no-one being particularly likeable or particularly offensive made it hard to care very much about any of them.
Even if it comes on again, I doubt I'd watch it.

Reports coming through that they've resorted to cannibalism.

It was intended to be a genuine attempt at a year zero, start afresh society. Self sufficiency and living off the land, that was the press about it before it began.

People leaving en masse was not what they expected, but picking mainly twenty-something gap year types guaranteed conflict and walk-outs.

Yep, that was the article I saw too and there has been zlich news of it since then, three months later, looks bad.

But Channel 4 need to let their viewers know if it is over or not.

I saw a channel 4 trailer today - sort of montages of upcoming programmes and Eden was on it, so presumably it is coming back?

I read in the local paper that someone from the production was giving a talk about the programme, will watch out to see if there is a report on it.

Yeh, saw that trailer again yesterday. Eden was about two seconds at the end. Remains unclear if a series 2 is being relauunched with a new group or they have pressed on with half of the original group in series 1. Six months of silence is quite odd.
