Did you watch the whole episode? It all came together towards the end!

Nice to see them all pulling together....getting some protein (i.e. egg) no doubt helped a lot! Good to see Anton is back in the fold too.

Interesting to see Jack (ex-army) modify his opinions and even finally announce that no one can judge others! Ha...let's see how long this more mature knowledge/wisdom holds out for!

Any guesses as to who will be the one to leave? I am thinking possibly Raphael, the carpenter who looks very disenchanted at low on energy. I would have said Kate since she is so tearful but then she has Rob.

I don't think the producers were thinking along those lines like Big Brother or I'm a Celebrity guff about "who goes this week".

If they lose Raphael, the builder/carpenter, they may as well all pack up as they will be living in that communal storehouse all winter, freezing their asses off.

One thing to note, the fisherman is not a professional fisherman, just a hobbyist, likewise the "gamekeeper" is apparently an IT consultant.

And I swear there were two people on tonight, briefly, who I never saw before, a little fella with glasses and a black girl.

But there are two professional dickhe*ads: Tom and Jack.

Could the microphones be any bigger ?
Yer, they do seem very bulky and heavy, and they're very intrusive considering they wear them all the time. I'm guessing there's a local receiver that would actually record and store all the audio, and I presume they each include a large battery, but you'd think they'd have a better system of regularly replacing much smaller batteries every few days without compromising the project. They have large hand held cameras which must need a lot of recharged batteries too.

True, they all worked well at the end.
Problem is it was like a 'day out' - more fun than work. Like going paint-balling with people you normally only work with! And I think they said they's cut down 20 trees in TWO HOURS. That's not a very long time to keep the peace and co-operate! The problems will arise again (I think) when people are left to their own devices to get things done, be pro-active, take initiatives when the work is tiring and mundane
When the 'other' people are not in sight, it's easy to presume they are not working as hard as yourself. And when you feel bored and tired, you feel you've done enough, deserve a rest... is exactly when an 'other' will turn up and presume you've done nothing!

Well the description for next week's episode suggests the team spirit did not last too long.

Tom is an absolute bell end. All that fuss about Anton building a shelter last week, then going to it, cooking the food that he'd put there, not because Tom and his crony were hungry but just because Anton had taken it was beyond childish and antagonistic. And now they want to build a shelter....

It's like a bleddy gap year for some of them. I don't want to see a puny vet take after a puny chef because he made his girlfriend cry. The girlfriend who didn't want him to say anything but so obviously did. Grow up.

It's TV so they want a narrative. Tonight's narrative was the "group almost splits up into two factions but everyone pulls together again at the last moment". Utterly predictable.

Anton virtually disappeared, having being the subject of last week's narrative of "Loner is estranged from group and looks like he will leave but everyone pulls together at the last moment". Given that the disputed point was his 'winter camp' how come everyone is suddenly talking about the need for a winter camp this episode without any reference to Anton's idea before?

There are some really prize bellends in the group, very difficult to find anyone to really cheer for. The carpenter seems pretty decent and the chef is very capable. That's about it. Most of the rest are 'twenty-something' idiots.

Didn't the chef actually say he was going to play with his bellend?!

They should re name it Bellenders.

It's Paul McGann, famous for playing Doctor Who in the movie but has been in tons of things and does lots of voice-overs/narration.

Anton and Raphael aside i still find most of them despicable. All the women just blend into one and they are all pretty useless. Most of the blokes are complete bellends. I could happily murder Tom.

I'm surprised no one got hurt the way they were chopping down those trees, hardly any of them were putting a wedge in the tree so it would fall in a certain direction.

That will be one of the stories one week!

One of the bellends will get injured, falling down a hole or off a tree or burning themselves somehow.

Or freezing to near death by nearly drowning.

Can't wait.

I don't feel so critical towards them as many here do. Although I do agree that the women are incredibly samey and hard to distinguish.

Bear in mind that this is unchartered territory - a new experience so they are bound to make errors! Essentially what we are watching is a massive learning curve! Also their age means that they don't have the benefit of dealing better with relationships....something that develops more with age.

Ha ha, I don't really its just that so many on here used the B word about them it sort of makes sense and mildly funny.

I bet they all feel like dicks on there starving to death on spuds, cos they are so up themselves normally.

Especially the one who wanted to kill the chef! Bellend.

Well said, he and Jack are more trouble than they are worth. How long was that twit in the army for ? Five minutes maybe. He was going on like he was a flippin' combat veteran Colonel.

The age range is very skewed towards the "gap year" twenty-somethings as others have said. More thoughtful and usually humble slightly older people like Raphael and Anton would hold the group together more.

Nothing like a few extra years on the clock, with the usual reverses, failures and disappointments to smooth out rough edges.

Did you watch the whole episode? If so you must have noticed what Jack had learnt, i.e. how he modified his opinions of others (following on from a conversation one of the women had with him). He even went as far as to say something like 'no one can judge anyone'. That's an impressive learning curve I thought.

You obviously missed the memo that says in today's society, people can't have failures or disappointments any more - everything is awesome (TM) all the time and if you are faced with any sort of a challenge just retreat into your 'safe space' and blame your problem on someone else's perceived 'meanness'.

People are now making it into their 30s with less maturity and emotional balance than I would expect of an 18 year old.

I guess filming has finished and is everyone now back to 'normal' life?
If so they wouldn't be allowed to talk about it until the series is finished, so it must be incredibly frustrating (embarrassing?) to see an edited version of yourself on TV. I'm sure that ANYONE on a show like this would say "That's not fair, they didn't show the whole story"!! The show can't show everything and our observations / criticisms have to be based on relatively tiny snippets of time and having no personal knowledge of each individual in 'normal' life. And very few us have experienced living isolated with a small group of diverse people.

I think it would drive me crazy every week to see people (us lot!) comment on my actions from a year ago when I was stressed or just having a bad day. For me, I reckon the reactions from social media would probably be worst than anything during the actual experience!
Just a thought, I'm not saying we shouldn't criticise - that's what they are there for, suffering for our enjoyment!

Look back through the thread, I linked to the planning application and Section 11 Exemption which have the exact dates.

prosacNation - if you can't be faffed doing that then, suffice it to say that the planning application has been granted until sometime next year, i.e. the project is not yet completed.

I think the winter will see them all drop like flies. I can't see this lasting a year.
