Firstly...
Quote:
“artists like her are dependant on other people to write and produce their music.”

Secondly, I didn't say there isn't loads of writers on her records, or producers for that matter. What I said is the majority of her work is written by her and one or two other people. Where there are more people (Fantasy, Heartbreaker, Honey etc) it is because she used a sample of another song and credited like she should do. She didn't actually work with those people, she just sampled their work or its because those people feature on the tracks and also had a hand in writing them.

She may have used a lot of producers, many people do. Would it make her less dependent on producers if she worked with 1 producer since 1990? She works with a range of people, it's hardly surprising she's not working with the same people she did 26 years ago. And I've counted around 55-60 producers in that 26 year career working with most on more than one album.

Who cares whether she writes her own music or not. She's a huge talent regardless. But her hip/hop style is far superior to her paint-by-numbers ballads. Even her later ballads are superior.

She never went downhill, she improved.

I don't care personally, the music is great either way, but I think its something that often goes unmentioned when people speak of her.

which i've proven to be false, which anyone can see by looking at the credits on the wiki links

regardless of the samples, there's a whole load of writers across her albums, and few have just her and one other person writing them, compared to the volume of work

that's a shitload of producers, and for how many albums?

and how many writers exactly are credited on those albums?

i like mariah, one of her crtically slated albums is my favourite, and it doesn't matter how many writers or producers made a record if i like it

however the simple fact of the matter is her success, and the success of other similar artists is down to a team or writers and producers. if she wrote and produced an album entirely herself it's unlikely to become a critical or commercial success
