Managing to get on during the day, albeit when I'm at work! Not ideal, but when I get home and try to have a proper "go" round my Village I can't get on!
I had a Pokewalk this morning before work at about 10-11 am and the servers were brilliant then. After work, (10-11pm) they're in shite.

I did hit level 10 tonight tho. Can now use super potions and I got another incubator.

Word on the street is the game is due to release in Japan tomorrow, so don't be surprised if the servers have issues all the way up until next Monday now.

As for today, servers were, generally speaking, the best they'd been since last Thursday, I had absolutely no issues all day until 8pm rolled around at which point the game couldn't get past the Gyarados loading screen, but when it worked today it was fabulbous - still upset about the "3 foot print" glitch, losing far too many pokemon I haven't yet caught because of that glitch which is depressing, on the bright side I finally have a Fearow, so I have that going for me, which is nice.

If you walk into a minefield looking for Pokemon then you deserve to die.

I was getting frustrated on the way into work this morning as my screen kept becoming non-responsive, a colleague has just informed me its a glitch when using battery saver mode I missed an Eevee I really needed because of it (I need 3 more candies to evolve my best Eevee). I know the team must be completely swamped right now with the global roll out but they're going to lose a lot of players because of these glitches.

Ah thank you, that keeps happening to me too – good to know it's just a glitch. It is a bit annoying but I'm hoping once the roll out is done the glitchiness will be tackled properly.

I've been using battery saver mode and it seems to be ok, just flip my phone upside down and slide it into my pocket

This is happening to me constantly. Last night it was happening every couple of minutes. It's only happened twice today though.... Wasn't sure what it was, so I guess I'll turn off battery saver mode.

Went out for a bit and managed to hit upon a place that gave me 9 different Pokemon all at once, it had the usual suspects like Drowzee and Zubat but it also gave me a 500 CP Jynx, a Shellder, Seel, Kakuna and Venonat, so that's pretty nice.

Any tips to hit it on the first go? Mine sometimes go over or under the Pokemon and takes me 3 times usually.

Generally if you flick it as soon as the Pokemon appears then you should hit the Pokemon and get a little message saying either "Nice!" or "Great!" If the Pokemon looks like its closer on your screen then only flick your finger up a small amount to do a "short throw", if it's something like Zubat which is always far away then flick your finger up the entire screen to do a "long throw", this should help the ball not go under or over.

Downloaded the game just five minutes ago. Can't go far outside my own wifi connection due to no data but I got my starter Pokemon a Charmander and seen a Ratata on the map.

Apparantly there is also a Psyduck and what I think is a ghastly. Maybe a pigeotte and some oniony looking pokemon

Am I right in saying that the map showing the location of where a creature was caught doesn't work?

Correct. Ever since Friday none of the map functions have worked as they should. The Pokémon ALWAYS show up 3 footprints away even if you're right on top of them and the map itself has been zoomed out, i.e. Pokémon that are 3 footprints away are *meant* to be about 200 metres away, but now could be up to 2 miles away because someone at Niantic tampered with the mapping system to ease the server strain.

Plus of course the map now longer shows where you caught a Pokémon, instead simply showing a blank rectangle almost all of the time.

Thanks for the very informative answer.

Glad it's not just me.

I had been wondering about that footprint feature, cause I only ever keep seeing three footprints yet encounter Pokémon anyway. Does this broken feature have any impact on that shaking grass too? I keep heading to the grass but nothing appears.

The grass is entirely a game of luck. Pokémon have the potential to be there but 3/5 of the time they won't be there.

The footprints don't impact the grass but it does heavily impact the very fundamentals of what little gameplay there is in Pokémon Go. Without the footprints and with the map zoomed out so that "Nearby" Pokémon could be up to 2 miles away, it makes the actual tracking of specific Pokémon nigh on impossible, so it's a total game of luck as to what you end up stumbling across while walking.

If you get "Dragonite", "Gengar", "Gyarados", "Alakazam", "Machamp" or "Nidoking" show up in your Near By section, chances are you won't find them before they de-spawn, which is a shame, as it really does affect the enjoyment of the game.

Oh, I'm still getting Zubat, Pidgey and Weedle. I haven't advanced enough yet. By the time I get looking for Nidoking and Gengar they'll have hopefully ironed out all the bugs.

Haha yeah I'm still getting Zubat, Pidgey, Rattata and Drowzee, I was just saying that *if* any rarer Pokémon do happen to show up then it's extremely good luck if you happen to encounter them, because at the moment it's impossible to deliberately encounter anything.

I hope you're right that they iron out all these bugs too as the "3 footprint" glitch is 1 step off being game breaking. Unfortunately I think what they've decided to do is release the game in every region first and THEN fix all the bugs, which is not the way round I'd do things but hey ho, only got Japan, a few Eastern European territories and South America to go as far as I know, then hopefully the game will start receiving some proper updates to iron out these issues.

Is there anywhere within the game that signifies the rarity of a Pokemon?
