As long as it's not:

Rattata, Pidgey, Drowzee, Zubat, Caterpie, Weedle, or any of their respective evolutions...

Then it's rare

Cool. I just got one with magnets for hands in my living room. That has to be rare.

I think the only rarer Pokémon I've found (per silhouettes, not actually meeting) have been Pikachu and Eevee. Everything else I've seen I own one of. The best I've got is a Pidgeot at the moment.

Lets hope they fix their shit sooner rather than later.

I don't believe there is, no. I think at this point we can naturally assume that the legendary Pokémon are going to be event specific. They'd have been found by now otherwise.

Magnemite? That's rare for me - in that I haven't even seen one yet.

I've got Eevee too. I'm obviously doing better than I thought

Caterpie (several)
Weedle (several)
Kakuna
Staryu (2)
Drowzie (2)
Squirtle
Pidgey (several)
Pidgeotto (2)
Pidgeot
Venonat
Gastly (2)
Ratatta
Raticate
Zubat
Poliwag
Magikarp
Jigglypuff
Psyduck
Krabby

That's all I've got. No Pikachu, no Eevee, not even a Paras. I've seen silhouettes of Slowpoke, Seal, Oddish, Bellsprout and Exeggcute too, but no interactions with them yet. Oh, and Nidoran.

It's 3:30 pm in New York so I don't think that's the problem.

Went to a lure today, got many rattatas! Not great

Almost got 3 gyms for my collect today! Got booted out of the 1st as I was beating the 3rd! would have gone back if they 1st wasn't 14 miles away!

I'm sure its not logging my distance properly either. Do a 1.9 km journey twice a day when i'm in work, and the egg thingy logs it as 0.8km

Americans are finishing work and getting their phones out then.

How exactly do gyms work? I joined Team, Yellow yesterday, there's two gyms local to me, one (currently) Yellow, and one Red. Do I challenge them? Am I rewarded with XP?

If you fight in an allied gym, you get a bit of XP and it gains some reputation. If the reputation gets high enough, more pokemon can be added. You get 10 coins (premium currency) and 500 starstuff each day for each pokemon you have in an allied gym!

Fighting a non allied gym, you get 6 pokemon to face the roster, each win reduces reputation, meaning if you do it enough, pokemon slots will be removed (and the pokemon in them returned to their owners)

Meaning with patience you can take down a gym if you have a half decent team! You get more XP for attacking non allied gyms too.

When you clear one out, it turns grey, you can then add one of your pokemon to claim it for your team!

I tend to put lowly ones in there, makes it easier for another team player to get some XP.

I wish you lived around my way. The red gym I was considering attacking earlier had a Jolteon with a CP of 340 something. My highest is a 115 Pidgeot.

Electric>Flying

Thanks for info also.

Remember, you get 6 to do that, so try 6 weaker ones (non flying clearly!)

Itll be not very effective against grass types, and their attack will be normal!

Equally, i'd love a gym with a pokemon of CP340, they are all at least twice that round here!! I am team red though

Did you see my Pokémon list above? I practically own Flying and Water types. I need a Geodude damn it!

Just take 6 and have a go!! You have ghost and normal types!!

Egg hatching will get you that geodude

With regards to gyms, if you can time dodges correctly you can take out Pokémon 500 CP higher than yourself without *too* much of an issue, anything lower than 400 CP should go down with no issue at all, take a chance at it, even if it is higher than your own Pokémon, you'll probably win

It depends. That and Voltorb were all I ever got at my Dad's house. (Well Magnemite and Magneton too.) I had loads of them. All I get here at my house in London are Pidgey, Spearow and Rattata. I got loads of Drowzees in Tesco today.

I got Squirtle in the middle of the night so that was nice. My housemate gets the Pidgeys etc. but seems to get loads of rare ones compared to me.

Ok I've been playing for a few days and one thing I'm not sure about is can other people see the same pokemon as me or do we all get unique spawns?

Unless you have incense active then generally speaking other people should be able to see the same Pokémon as you assuming they're in the same general area as you.

My friend and I went to the local swimming pool today and both of us got the exact same Pokémon: 2 Pikachus, 4 Rattatas, a Pidgeot, a Pidgeotto, 3 Zubats and a Goldeen.

The only differences will be the catch rate, the CP and the HP levels.

Yeah the dodging is key to beating the higher CP Pokemon. Don't get put off by a high number.

Is there anywhere I could see a guide to what is weak/strong against what ?

A CP340 gym would be amazing. A lot near me are over 1k.

I can't get into the game now but I'll post my Pokemon tomorrow. I think I have about 30 - 35.

Water beats Fire, Rock and Ground.
Electricity beats Flying and Water.
Fire beats Grass, Bug and Ice.
Grass beats Water, Ground and Rock.
Psychic beats Fighting and Poison.
Poison beats Grass.
Ice beats Grass, Ground, Flying and Dragon.
Flying beats Grass, Bug and Fighting.
Rock beats Fire, Ice, Flying and Bug.
Ground beats Fire, Electricity, Poison and Rock.
Normal beats nothing.
Fighting beats Normal, Ice and Rock.
Bug beats Grass and Psychic.
Dragon beats Dragon.

I think that's all the types from Gen 1, pretty hard to keep track.
