Had a good afternoon. Went somewhere new to play and got some good Pokemon. Got a Digglet and a Sandshrew (2 new Pokemon), 6 Magnemites which I turned into a Magnetron (new). Also got some more Nidoran, an Abra and a Shelder which I already had but they'll help me get to the Phase 3 evolutions.

It asked me to log into Google after updating (about 5 minutes after) but I was able to log in okay.
I keep getting this message
Oops! It seems that Pokemon.com has had an unexpected error. Don't worry; the site administrators have already been notified and they'll try to have the problem fixed soon.

I've heard from a ton of different sources that Pokemon.com has been notoriously awful when it comes to signing in for Pokemon Go, apparently Google is a lot smoother BUT that would mean losing progress

Bit poor, but I think your options are either waiting it out and hoping it blows over or starting from the beginning.

I was using incense and at the same time someone dropped a lure in the pokestop next door to me. In the whole half hour all I saw was rats, worms and rats with wings.

I’m going to get real bored of this game real quick at this rate.

I read Niantic have started banning sides like Pokévision that give away the locations of Pokémon and hotspots for certain types.

I haven't used any. I wanted to try one, just out of curiosity, but the Pokévision one kept crashing because of the very heavy traffic. It's purely cheating, but some have used it as a substitute while the three paw glitch is getting fixed.

I'm sure the likes of Pokévision will find a way around them, sites like that always find a way.

I started using Pokevision this weekend, I was just using it to see what was happening in MK with pokemon, I don't know if I would have ended up using it to go hunting.

The thing that frustrates me is Niantic stomping down on these sites when they haven't repaired the 3 step glitch. What are you meant to do for now when something interesting shows up on your nearby drawer, start an inch by inch hunt of a 300 metre radius of your current location in the hopes you find something? At least if he steps works you know if you were heading in the right direction.

It's a shame the game has had so many problems early on, it has great potential but they'll lose a lot of casual players this way.

I read on another forum (IIRC the poster went to a high level quickly by teaming up with people - the game does encourage this by making training a gym to another level by yourself just a shade out of reach a lot of the time with your one poke) that the rarer ones pop out around the half hour/hour mark, a couple of minutes leeway either side. In practise this seems fairly accurate.

Putting a lure and incense down is best coupled with a lucky egg so you can grind the double XP on catches and build your stardust up IMO.

I hatched a 1700+ Snorlax with the now powered up Hyper Beam, post-update. Huzzah! It held on for a while at a busy gym but I didn't have any back-up so Valor took over.

I did that at the same time, waste of an egg

A good use of the lucky egg (battery allowing) would be having a couple of pokés ready to evolve, your common types like Weedle and Pidgey especially as you have the candy - crack the egg, evolve them as you arrive at the lure or during catches. I wish I'd done that earlier in the game to pass levels a bit quicker.

I wouldn't recommend using lures or incense. Incense is most likely to give you nothing but commons like Rattata, Pidgey, Drowzee, and maybe occasionally an Oddish or something *slightly* out of left-field if you're lucky.

With lures, the location of the Pokéstop does play in a role in what kind of Pokémon show up in the 30 minute interval, would recommend using a lure on a really major landmark or somewhere you think might give you a rare Pokémon, but most suburban and rural Pokéstops are likely to give you the usual suspects, which obviously makes for a mind-numbing game.

This is what I do. I save up about 30 - 40 evolutions (usually Pidgeys, etc) and do it with an egg active. At 1000 exp a pop, you get crazy experience for it. Just a pity it takes 75,000 exp to get to level 22.

I slightly disagree with this.

I have found the countryside the best place for incense and a derelict old castle with nothing else around the best place for lures. Whereas in town it's all the usual old crap spawning.

Beaches seem to be a great place to catch Pokemon. After getting nothing new for days yesterday I caught a Geodude, Kabuto, Doduo, and several Slowpokes at the beach.

Got a 1.3k CP Snorlax from a 10k egg yesterday!

I seem to be getting a bigger variety of Pokemon over the last few days too, getting a Vulpix, Voltorb, Clefairy and an Abra, all of which I'd never seen in the wild before hand.

I lost the chance to get a Slowbro and a Seaking yesterday because they escaped me when trying to catch them.

They are the only pokemon I have encountered and not been able to catch.

I really want a Snorlax or an Arcanine!

Fell out of love with this game now.

Without tracking it just feels utterly vacuous and hardly a "game" at all.

Not to mention I went to 3 different towns today and had 27 Pidgey, 23 Drowzee and 19 Rattata appear, it's just getting so tediously mind numbing having those 3 Pokémon appear on my screen time and time and time and time again.

But I caught a Nidoran (F) and an Eevee, which allowed me to evolve my Eevee into a Jolteon, one of my favourite Pokémon. I knew I was over this game the moment I obtained Jolteon and realised I was totally indifferent to the fact I now owned one of my favourites.

Niantic need to fix their tracking asap, this is the major killer for me. Without tracking at all I'm no longer leaving the house with the sole intent of playing Pokémon Go, now I'm just playing Pokémon Go whenever I happen to leave the house, and by the tail end of today I didn't even feel like doing that, and they *seriously* need to reduce the extreme rate at which Pidgey, Drowzee and Rattata spawn over every other Pokémon.

Seriously, I've never seen a game developer ruin their own game in such a short amount of time in quite the same way Niantic has, it genuinely boggles the mind in how awfully they've botched what was and could still have been a force of nature for mobile gaming.

I was at home this morning and saw a Squirtle in my nearby list. I went outside, walked my entire estate but found nothing. Like ShotDownInFlames I'm getting a bit peeved at not actually been able to track anything.

I had one. Niantic are sending out cease and desists to all of them, and others are getting copyright claims for associating themselves with the Pokémon license and this specific game in general.

So yeah, soon enough nobody will be able to track anything, nightmare move by Niantic, taking down all the tracking apps while themselves not doing anything to fix their own tracking.

Agree with above I feel slightly disheartened, I haven't had a new pokemon in about a week, although I could have evolved shelder and nidoran(M).
I am level 16but every gym I click on has pokemon at at least 1800 whereas mine are only 600-900; I don't think i am that obsessed to get to that level where they are at 1800. By the time I am at 1800 most trainers will probably be at least 2500 and so on.
I haven't had a 10k egg for c4 weeks and my last 2 hatched eggs at 5k were caterpie and poliwhirl- 2 pokemons I already had.
I keep seeing these new exciting pokemon greyed out with the footsteps underneath; then when i feel a vibrate i think it has to be this pokemon, but it always turns out to be a pidgey or rattata. Why? These pokemon arent even listed on the 3 footstep radar at the time of looking.

This game is making people lose their minds. I like this game too but I'm not crazy about it. I've read lots of interesting news about it , experts say Pokemon Go exposes players to security and privacy risks. So I think it's better to use some proxy or vpn services while you’re playing the game. I found all necessary info about free vpn software at https://myipservices.com/blog. Very useful website with VPN ratings and the latest updates.

It reminds me of a speech one of our senior managers gave a few years ago. We had a new computer system rolling out that was full of glitches and problems. The manager came from an engineering background. He asked the team who created the system why they'd released it with so many problems and the answer was they'll fix the problems later, they just needed/wanted to release it. He pointed out when he worked for a car manufacturing company they would never have considered releasing a car that was so full of problems it was only workable in certain conditions and asked why it was ok to do this with a computer system. He didn't get an answer.

It's not just Niantic, loads of companies do it, but I'll never understand why. Well, other than the almighty dollar as they say.

This is just the nature of modern technology. Get the release out before the competitors come up with something. Worst case scenario you can deploy a patch later.

The bonus from that is that the devs also effectively get free beta testing.

Keep in mind as well that games are infinitely more complex now than what they were in the PS1-PS2 days. Even a mobile game like PG is doing incredible things that would have been unthinkable back then, on hardware that fits into the palm of your hand.

Also, the ease of patching means releasing a "perfect" game is no longer a priority.
